Maybe so. But there are plenty of people that wished they could have been better providers for their families. Pretty sure nobody's ever wished they were less successful either.

Did he also tell you he never worked over 40 hours a week? I bet not!

Honestly, I won't be satisfied until employers are allowed to physically whip their employees. Don't like it? Work somewhere else, pussy!

People, there is no right or wrong in one's personal work ethic. I think legislated rules are wrong. Everyone should do what makes them happy. If you like 80 hr work weeks, fine. It is your choice. The older I get, the more I value the time I have left. I regret the times I missed with my family when I was young, chasing a dollar(put a lot of them away). It is all about balance. The funny thing about it is, the more money you have, the less important it becomes. That being said, having it makes it easy to feel that way.

This is the best post in the thread

Why in the hell do you work this many hours? YOu must have no life outside of your job.

The new law and court ruling goes overboard, imo. That said, I do think the French do tend to have a healthy balance between work and personal lives. Plus it's a pretty nice country all the way around.

The mandatory vacation time europeans get is pretty sweet not going to lie. Along with a 32 hour work week.

Isn't it nice though to live in a country that gives him that choice? Not all people "live for the day." Some people plan for the future somewhere down the road.

Errr, some people have no choice. I have not see you make this argument, but when min wage comes up the solution people have is work more! Get a 2nd job! (in addition to improve your skills).
For many in the US, its not a choice to work 60 hours or 40 hours. They have to work 60 hours to survive.
personally i work about 25 hrs a week, but have to appear to work 50 (i.e. be available for calls)

You have to eat! Or are you suggesting that welfare should be an option?

Errr, until Tim answers the question of why he works that much I guess we're all just speculating as to why he doesn't have a life according to Toddy.
Something makes me think that Tim is not working 80 hours a week to put food on the table to survive.

quote:Nope. But in deserving cases charity is a wonderful gift.
Or are you suggesting that welfare should be an option?
