Well, then it must never happen if you've never seen it.

1. Can you read? The poster said it happens all the time.

2. Have you ever seen it happen?

3. I've never even heard of it happening from guys I play with.

4. I've played over 2,000 rounds of golf with over 400 people. Five of them played strict USGA rules. I do because I want to be able to have an objective comparison of one round to the next.

You haven't played as much golf as you say you do then.

I've played golf my whole life and don't like watching it on TV. I'll watch the majors, but that's it. I love going to the tournaments though.

Yea that's a very asinine comment.

That's like saying democrats don't exist because you live in the bayou and you've never seen one.

ETA: probably not the greatest analogy, but both amount to subjective doubt

I play tennis, another highly skilled technical sport, so I have the utmost respect for golfers and what they can do with a little white ball. Truly incredible.

I just think the circles of players that we've hung around is better than average.

Sorry, I don't believe you. If you pick up your ball 1 inch from the hole you're cheating. If you move a twig in the rough and your ball moves it's a stroke or you're cheating. 99.9% of golfers cheat. I doubt if are the .1%

I've seen it at least 100 times by amateur players. You must play with anorexics or women.

Yes I'm aware. I know the rulebook front and back.

I think you need to play golf with some people who play in tournaments. The people you are playing with now obviously don't play enough.

No.

I rarely play golf and I suck at it. But I love watching it. Watching great golf amazes me more so than watching great football or basketball.

Golf is such a hard sport to be truly great at. I watch in awe at some / most of the shots that the players hit on tour. Its ridiculous.

You know why you don't believe it? Cause you and your buddies have little skill (sorry, but after this comment it's the truth)...

quote:

I swung and saw the ball in a blur go straight for the center of the fairway but I lost sight in the sun almost immediately.
Me: "I lost it. Did you see it."
Him: (Laughing...yeah, I saw it." Me: "Well, where did it go?"
Him: (still laughing) "It's right next to your foot." I had teed the ball up to high and hit the tee out from under the ball into the sun. The ball didn't go anywhere.

Best round of golf I've witnessed in person was by BeaverPRO. First time I played with him (or anyone from this board). He went out and fired a 67. Lipped out a birdie for 66.

That's pretty funny. The first time I played with him (I think), I shot 66 at Webb. First person from this site I played with.

Are you really basing your logic off the 2000 rounds you have played when there are over 400,000,000 rounds of golf played in the US every year? Seems like a small sample size doesn't it?

I'm a pretty big golf fan, but I don't religiously watch the Zurich or anything. I'll catch some of the medium tournaments and plan weeks around the majors, the players, etc.

Apparently, golfers are not only cheaters but they also lack reading comprehension. My response was to this quote. Scroll up and read it 3 times. Feel free to you your fingers.

quote:

Lots of guys can shoot 64 on their home course

1. Do you think the above assertion is true playing strict USGA rules?

2. Do you agree that 99% of golfers do not play by strict USGA rules?

Those are simple 'yes' or 'no' questions. But feel free to do some internet research before answering.
