Very sorry to hear that. I made the best catch of my life years ago when my 6 month old ShihTzu made that same dumbfounded leap. I snatched her by the back leg as she was airborne.Good Luck

We had a cat that had foot cancer and my parents decided to amputate the back leg. The first couple of days of recovery are rough. When he first tries to walk you will cry your eyes out. He'll be running around soon enough. That 3 legged cat was fast as hell!

buddy of mine was clearing lanes with a brush blade , as he was taking it to the ground, his new lab ran under him and the blade took the dogs leg off. Dog has been perfectly fine and gets around better than most.

If you aren't crying after this, you don't have a heart. He'll be fine. This dog only has two.

A guy I play golf with regularly has a 3 legged dog. She lost one of the rears. She walks/runs along with us at The Links every single round that guy plays. Great dog that seems to enjoy life just like any other. She's a smallish terrier mix. Kinda like a Fiest or large rat.

Sorry to hear that. From what I know, the beck leg is better than the front. He will adjust fast and live a happy tripod life.

Thanks fellas, I figured as much but good to hear it from others with experience. And thanks for the reply about his recovery, was lookin for that kind of info as well.
His surgery went well and he's resting at the vet. We should pick him up later tomorrow. I will give a couple updates.

Just an update: They cut it off Friday afternoon and when I picked him up Saturday morning he was walking. Had a few balance issues but nothing major and was attempting to run some that day. Even was trying to chase my ducks and jumped off the bed twice that evening. Damn dogs are resilient.
