I hope they are prepared for a scorched earth policy by the dog runners. I know a bunch who will be highly pissed off.
Which is why dog hunting is a dying sport all over the nation. People don't hate dog hunting. They hate the dog hunters. They are like the mob of the outdoors. They work in large numbers and burn your camps if you try to stop them from breaking the law. Even the game wardens are scared of them.

Deer run away from barking dogs. It's how dog hunting works. Stop whining, set up ahead of them, and shoot
Perhaps you fail to understand that most deer hunters do not hunt merely to kill animals. Most hunt because they enjoy the peace and tranquility of the woods, and the thrill of scouting and managing property. Killing deer is simply the by product.

If you chase me away from my house, my food, and my family, and then leave.....what do you think I am going to do.
There are some lazy people that need to get out of their heated stands and actually start hunting deer
But what about the guy who owns his own land, spends all week at work so he can enjoy a Saturday morning hunt, and then your dogs trespass on his land and drive away his deer on the day he can hunt? He does not give a shite that the deer will come back that night.

Pretty soon they will be saying dogs put to much pressure on the hogs, squirrels and rabbits....
It's not the pressure. Its the trespassing.

You guys must be new to hunting or younger than I thought. If this had happened in the 80s the dog runners would have burned their mills down. They will not take this lightly I assure you.
Like I said. The mob of the woods.

I do hate to see a southern tradition end.
Agreed, but the dog hunters did this to themselves by not respecting the property of neighbors.

If you have never chased dogs then you haven't lived!
I have done it plenty of times and had a blast. Especially hog hunting with hounds and Pit's. Like I said, I don't hate the sport, I hate the disrespectful dog hunters who have become the overwhelming majority of dog hunters.

So supporting controlled burns and opposing deer dogs makes me a moron ? I can see that you've obviously never managed land. Typical coonass.

Hammer time in that case I'm very sorry. I'm sorry that your clients or county/parish have a clueless forester.
Weyerhaeuser offers 2,000 acre leases with 70-100 hunt able acres due to 14-15 year old pines they refuse to burn.
As far as deer dogs go, it's always nice to spend thousands managing private property just to have some a-hole turn his dogs out at the property line.

You're still a moron and still have no idea what you're talking about. Adding numbers to your post doesn't make it right

I think some of these companies are worried about the smoke getting on the road and causing accidents. Years ago, there was a big accident in St Tammany on I-12. I know the State guys are very concerned with it when they burn. Weyerhauser and Soterra own large tracts in our parish and I have not seen them burn in a long time, even though no main roads are involved.

Hopefully they get pissed and don't renew so they'll be some decent property on the market.

"prescribed burning" Nothing better than a sterile forest. Yeah right!

Bennet and Peters burned next to the interstate and caused a wreck. People were killed in a auto wreck, trial was held in South Eastern U. auditorium.

Does hammertime have a University degree in forestry? Does not sound like it. I bet he is a timberman that calls himself a forester. DustOff winds that debate.
