I'm leaning that way. The pine is about 6 feet away from my deck, and the way my yard is slanted with the hills, that end of the deck is about 6 feet off the ground. I could build it close to the height of the deck, and it isn't an area I would walk under anyways. But I like the storage idea.

Looks like the southbound side of that bridge has seen better days!

Damn, I built mine with a bunch of scrap 2x4s and some junk pieces of particle board my mom had covering a huge ant pile. Times have changed.

haha...when we were kids, we would pillage the houses being built in the neighborhood and built some awesome treehouses in a huge vacant wooded lot owned by the local church, so we knew it would be a while before anything ever would come down...

Two years? I'm gonna knock this one out in a weekend!

Oh, and last night at the dinner table, my girl asked me if I bought some wood. Took me a second to realize what she was talking about at first. She's like her daddy, and when she gets stubbornly set on something, she won't let it go until it is done.

No go this weekend because I have other things around the house to wrap up, but maybe next weekend.

What can I say... I'm slow and only work when I'm not fishing/hunting/doing yard work and the weather is right....

Floor going up

1st set of stringers for the stairs..

Next set of stringers and steps...

I used hog wire instead of balusters, it worked nicely...

Walls going up

I can't seem to find the pictures of the current status. I have a roof on it and am building the front porch now...

that looks nice. I can see why it took some time. Mine will be much simpler and not look nearly as good!

The wife sent me a pic this morning of some playground swingset with a pair of swings, a little clubhouse area, and a slide coming down from that, asking if I thought our girl would like that for a treehouse. I'm not putting some monstrosity like that in my yard. Or if I was, it would be homemade and not put together from some kit. She's got a swing hanging from another tree. My aunt gave it to her a few years ago, and it is made from an old tire that it cut up to look like a little horse. I am going to figure out a way for her to have a slide on it, and the zipline like someone mentioned earlier.

Thanks guys, I'm no carpenter. There's nothing square about it, but I've had fun and the kids are excited. That daddgum treehouse masters show had me feeling quite inadequate.

I have an old stable that's falling apart I plan on using the tin from for the roof.

Here's the back and side...

We have 6.25 acres and the kids love exploring. It's my little piece of heaven. The only thing I would change would be moving out of the city limits so I could pew pew more.

Saturday afternoon I took my girl to the park. They had installed a new playground, and one of those rubber flooring pads beneath it. It looked like a big fake tree with monkey bars, slides, etc coming off of it. So I took the opportunity to ask my girl if she would want a playhouse like this, and even showed her the pic my wife had texted me that I mentioned here the other day. And of course she says nope, and said she wants a real treehouse, in a real tree. That's my girl!

So once all that was established, I talked to my wife about it again, and showed her a few pics I found online, some of this thread, and said I was thinking about building it on the tree near the deck. That was when I got the first push back from her. She said she wants it hidden in the back of the yard. I guess that's a start, if she isn't against the idea altogether. But it makes more sense to have it near the house. I can't run a good zipline uphill.

And sort of off topic, but the wife was actually looking at lake property on Smith Lake near Cullman Alabama over the weekend. She found a place on just under a half acre, two boat slips, with a double wide on it. I'd love it, and love it even more that she brought it up. Time to start looking for a boat! Just waiting on a realtor to call us back. And just like the treehouse, she wanted to get all fancy with a boat. I told her I'd be fine with an aluminum john boat and a small outboard motor, and a pontoon boat for us to cruise around on. She wanted some fancy ski boat.
