Yes we paid a little more to keep him but the falcons also just added a year on his deal for us, there is no 2 year tenders and he wouldnt be restricted forever thanks Atlanta.

Interesting. Curious to see how Loomis freed up money for this signing.
I'll dive in not having read the whole thread so forgive me if this has been answered. I also posted this in another thread.

If you assume he got an even 50/50 split between the years his cost this year would be $2.25m, only $850k over the $1.4m he was already costing us. We had about $2m free.

Now more than likely this is the real scenario. The deal was supposedly incentive laden(and with us he'll likely not hit them). On top of that, we likely back loaded the base salary.

So in reality he is likely costing us less on the cap this year than before. So thank you Falcons for giving him a cheap, incentive laden 2 year deal that was extremely easy to match. You probably just saved us money.

He played half the snaps last season and I think he will play about the same or more this season.
Yeah, and I actually saw a stat that said he actually played 67% of the snaps of the games he played in(he missed 3).

So when he was available he was a (more than part time)starter.

We also had garbage starting safeties and a lack of CB depth that forced us into playing 3 safety looks (as you have pointed out to me before ) a lot last season.. At this point we don't have to gameplan for that so it would make sense to assume he will get less playing time considering who our starting safeties are now.

That is true and I've said as much. It really is going to depend on who plays better out of Bailey, Robinson, White, and Bush and on what the situation calls for.

I still think we play a good bit of 3 safety but more in the 30-50%(again depending on what's mentioned above) at most, instead of the 67% we played last season.
