Jennings will start against Wisconsin because of his prior game experience because that's how Miles operates.

I'd bet on this. They are going to scrutinize Harris more than Jennings. Its just the way it is. Jennings has been on the team, he's played meaningful snaps, he's gonna start day 1. Harris will have his shot. Hopefully, the best player will play shortly after the beginning of the opener.

I think having 2 QB's is an advantage. About 15 years ago ,LSU used 2 QB's. One played a series in the 2nd Q'ter and again in the 3rd. By the 8th game he had 16 series in a game situation. Due to injury the 2nd guy had to play and was ready, we didn't miss a beat. That's what we could have again. Good security. I don't remember the names, but, saw some of the games live then.

I follow your line of thinking, I just don't believe it will happen (day 1 at least)

jennings has been in the system a year longer and was completely outplayed saturday by a kid who's been at LSU since january who should still be in high school.

His 3 snaps looked better than jennings

1. A fumbled snap
2. forced a ball late into coverage
3. hit the #1 WR on a deep ball with a practice squad corner in coverage.

Clearly, he should be playing before Jennings. What the hell are Miles and Cam thinking?

Idiot fans who read too much into a meaningless spring game that is dumbed down to the lowest level. I bet the coaching staff looks more at what they do during the closed practices where they run plays they would never run in a spring game as opposed to a glorified scrimmage to appease the fanbase.

If that's true, then why did Jennings start the spring scrimmage last yr and was the back up QB all yr over a more experienced guy?

Whatever the call turns out to be, I believe Cam will pick who he sees as giving LSU the best chance for success.

I really don't understand the rush some feel to call who starts. There is a lot of time between now and Sept. Also, if we have to go with a green starter, its pretty sweet for LSU to have what seems to be two talented ones.

Certainly having a good backup with some experience is a big positive.

But that's different than a "two QB system" where both QBs rotate in each game in some form. That's NOT good. One reason is that the team needs the QB to be their leader and they need to be able to get behind one guy. With constant rotation at QB, that's impossible. Plus, it opens the door for dissention among the offense with some players wanting QB1 to play and others wanting QB2. It just doesn't work.

If the coaching staff can't identify one QB who is the one, then a team has big problems. It means that neither of the QBs are really good enough.

Like the old saying: "if you have two QBs, you really have none."

A 2 QB situation means u don't have a qb. If Harris is not the starter shortly we will be in for a long year. Again I think Rettig is being wasted like other players that have attended LSU. Holliday comes to mind. I guess u'l have forgotten the JJ debacle!

A heated competition just gives us more security in the fall. If Harris starts, I truly worry about him getting hurt. If he's as quick to run as he was in the Spring Game, (with his frame) I do worry.

I didn't think he was quick to run. I thought he showed good pocket awareness mostly. When the pocket broke down, he tucked it and got what he could with his legs. Several times, he scrambled and got to the edge keeping his eyes down the field looking for a receiver.

I don't think he played lights out, but thought he showed a lot of maturity considering his experience. Keep in mind, this kid should be getting ready for his senior prom, not competing at this level.

LSU's most experienced QB is a WR.

None of us know bout Rettig cause he hasn't played enough. You either have faith that two pretty successful coaches, Cam and Miles, play the guys who give LSU the best chance of success or you don't...I do.

Now Holliday is a different story. How anyone can say he was wasted here is beyond me. The guy lead the SEC and was #2 in the nation in PRs his Sr year. I guess we can argue bout him being used more as a RB or WR, but at 5-5 and given his pro career I think he was used at LSU in the right ways and he was far from wasted.
