he didn't even play a preseason game though.

not even sure if he even practiced with them.

it was a quick stay.

yeah, he retired right around camp. If that is the case, did he get paid 285k signing bonus? lol

Some people have high hopes for Lelito but he's been pretty bad.
Lelito had one really, REALLY bad game.

Otherwise, he's been ok.

In the case of retirements, teams can force players to pay back signing bonuses if they want.

Richburg and Swanson seem sure fire starters but if the Saints want one of them won't they need to use a 2nd to assure the pic?

Bushrod and DLP did really well while Kromer was the OL coach for us.

We really need to upgrade the OL coach. Ingalls just didn't get the job done last year.

Most likely. It kind of sucks being that the 2nd will still have some great picks, but being that Center is the last true hole on the team, it isn't the end of the world spending a 2nd to solidify a hole. I was hoping to re-sign DLP, or still sign Goodwin, to at least give us some insurance at the spot, and be able to wait until to 3rd or 4th to see if one of these guys fell to us. I have a hard time seeing us go into Training Camp with just Lelito and a rookie Center, so Goodwin on a 1 year deal makes a ton of sense.

I would be surprised if Swanson, Richburg, and Martin are all off the board when we pick in the 3rd. There aren't many teams desperate for a center.

Agreed, this draft is deep enough that you can get implact/quality starters in the 2nd round as well. There's always that one team that does the unconventional thing though.

I agree that one of those 3 should be available in the 3rd, but it all depends where the FO staff has these guys on their boards, if at all. To us, the fans, it's easy to say "Well one them should be available at the point", but if the FO doesn't have them graded at that round, or view them as a potential starter, then they aren't an option.

There's always the Raiders though.

We thought that with Matt Tennant as well. There is no guarantee any of these will be upgrades. We will have to bring in a veteran as insurance. It is puzzling that they did not bring back DLP as insurance for that price.

It's odd. I assumed that they didn't bring him back because of his price tag. If he was willing to take minimum I would have been 100% OK with taking him back.

Goodwin could be a good insurance policy but he is 35. His best days are behind him. We definitely need some youth there.

if only 3 teams offered him a contract, 2 of which would have been definite backup (lions/bears), what does that say about him as a player?
