Beretta 3901, won't cycle shells properly. I bought almost new from someone who'd won it in a raffle (allegedly). Cleaned entire gun multiple times, put >200 rounds through the gun to try and break it in, per suggestions on various websites. Gun still will not cycle shells properly.

Jim's or somewhere else?

What exactly isn't it doing? Is the shell getting hung up I'm reciever? Is getting thrown halfway out? Need more info

will it not cycle different types of shells, or have you just tried one? I own this gun and have not experienced any issues. I did however hammer about 50-75 higher dram loads through it though when I bought it new. I have heard of low brass light loads not cycling sometimes if you don't break it in with heavier shells.
What have you shot through it and how is it hanging up? Not ejecting I assume, but wanted to ask.

Check it against a parts diagram first. I bought one off a guy who said it would only cycle hot loads. Took it home and found that the spacer up by the barrel nut was missing. Bought one off Brownells for 15 bucks or so and now it works like a champ. There is also a couple parts that you can reverse and it will do that. I believe its the spacer and the spring.

I may start a gunsmithing business. I'd be willing to bet at least 75% of guns brought in that don't work just need to be cleaned. The mechanics behind how firearms function is very simple; and most have few parts.
