I would prefer OBJ in the Saints' offense, however I wouldn't want to spend a (projected) 1st round pick on him when we could grab Jarvis in the 3-4 rounds (projected) and have a very strong route runner with sure hands.

I hope some team that needs a WR takes benjamin before lee, cooks, or OBJ. He's gonna be a middle of the road WR, nothing special about him imo.

being big and fast must have made him wreck against those college guys right? I mean he had a pretty good QB throwing to him too. He had 3 games that accumulated 40% of his yards and 33% of his TDs.

14 games: 1011 yards 15 TDs
103 yards/0TD vs. Boston College
212 yards/3TD vs. Florida
119 yards/2TD vs. Duke

outside of that, 11 games 577 yards and 10 TDs. Good players don't disappear like that.

I'm sure if you took out the best 3 games of all these wrs their numbers wouldn't be that great either.

Brandin Cooks:
13 games 1730 yards 16 TDs (QBs stats: 4844 yards, 38 TDs)
35.7% of his team's receiving yards, 42.1% of his team's receiving TDs

take away:
196 yards 2 TD vs. Eastern Washington
210 yards 3 TD vs. Utah
232 yards 1 TD vs. California
10 games: 1092 yards 6 TDs (5/10 were 100+ yards, 9/10 were 80+yards)

OBJ:
13 games 1152 yards 8 TDs (QBs stats: 3263 yards 23 TDs)
35.3% of his QB's yards, 34.8% of his QB's TDs
take away:
204 yards 2 TD vs. Furman
179 yards 2 TD vs. Miss State
136 yards 3 TD vs. UAB
10 games: 633 yards 1 TD (2/10 were 100+ yards, 3/10 were 70+ yards)

Compared to Benjamin's 1011 yards and 15 TDs
His QBs: 4423 yards 42 TDs
22.86% of his team's yards and 35.7% of his team's TDs

Benjamin is a redundant red zone target for us. In 1 less game, OBJ and Cooks put up better receiving numbers. Take away benjamin's big 3 games, his highest yard producing game was 73 yards and a bunch of 60 yard games.

Not a Benjamin fan but this isn't exactly fair. Those 3 games and the national title were the only games they played that weren't over by halftime. The scrub teams they played basically left somebody open out of he, Rashad Greene, Kenny Shaw, and Nick O'Leary.
I'd describe their production as more of them taking turns than somebody disappearing.

I watched a good bit of their games, he is a freak athlete, but he has some garbage arse hands. Is that fixable, yes. But we've seen a lot of receivers with 'bad hands' and not fix it either.

If I wanted a big fast body with bad hands, I'd ride out with toon.

Brees got sacked 37 times in 2013.....I believe they'll be looking to beef up the offensive line in the first round.

Why do you want to drag Jimmy Graham into this discussion?

That is not fixable. If you don't have them by now especially a WR then you don't have good hands.

The offensive line is set outside of the center position & center isn't a position that is usually addressed in the 1st round. They certainly could look to add depth in the later though.

I'd bet Payton does not select a WR in the first round; it's not going to happen. Why? Payton's ego won't let him. He is considered the preeminent offensive coach in the league...a "genius". A genius is suppose to know every aspect of the subject matter he commands. What's the point? Robert Meachem. Payton made a mistake in selecting Meachem; he never really lived up to the billing and should have never been selected in the 1st round (hell, the guy needed an operation and everyone knew before the draft). Payton got too cute with the pick and it backfired on him.

Picking Colston,Moore and now Stills, more than anything, have added to Payton's reputation of building a system capable of inserting "plug and play" WRs with late round or undrafted players. That's the sort of stuff that gets the media putting you in the "genius" category. I expect that approach will continue. Will they take Landry if he's there in the 3rd? Maybe. He's not taking a WR in the 1st.

Lol. We aren't drafting a center in the first round.

We have a solid RT. We have an extremely talented LT who played incredible in the playoffs and vs Tampa.

We have Evans at guard who is near the best when healthy And Grubbs is solid too
