So if one of them plays in a pro bowl you give up $100?

I took as meaning that the two of them would need to have one pro bowl each. Stupid bet anyway. It's probably going to take a number of years before the bet could be resolved. Shoot, it could take over a decade.

OBJ isnt the better WR. Hes the better athlete, no doubt about that. But hes 1 of the bigger boom / busts guys in the draft. Jarvis is the better football player right now. Hes more physical, better route runner, best hands in the draft, great blocker, and can get off the line better against press coverage than OBJ did. And hes clutch in the big moment. OBJ has made a lot of great plays for LSU, but also had 2 of the biggest mistakes for LSU these past 2 seasons. The fumble vs UF and the fumble on the punt return against UGA. Both were game changing plays, not in favor of LSU.

Go look at the stats between the 2. OBJ dominated against teams like UAB, Furman, Miss St(Jarvis was hurt), and TCU(not against Verrett either).

Versus SEC opponents:
OBJ - 36 catches for 583yards 2 TDs
Jarvis - 53 catches for 839yards 5 TDs.

Versus ranked opponents:
OBJ - 21 catches for 375yards 0 TDs.
Jarvis - 31 catches for 500 yards 4 TDs

When tied or losing by 1-7pts:
OBJ -21 catches for 420 yards and 0 TDs
Jarvis - 36 catches for 529yards and 2 TDs.

In November / Dec (Crunch time of the year):
OBJ - 11 catches for 143 yards and 0 TDs.
Jarvis - 19 catches for 311yards and 2 TDs.

And OBJ struggles against man press coverage. Hes at his best when teams play off of him, allowing him to use his speed as a threat and get into his route. When hes bumped at the line against a physical CB, it throws him off. Hes not physical and struggles to get in his route, which takes away his speed. Jarvis is the complete opposite. Hes better when a DB is playing on him in press coverage due to his physical play. He can rip / swim / push the DB off and get into his route with no problem.

But the biggest difference between the 2 guys isnt something you can measure at a combine. Its their attitudes. Jarvis plays like a dog with his back against the wall every play. Hes a fighter out there. Hes made some huge blocks to help spring another player and he gets up celebrating like he just made a game winning TD catch in the SuperBowl. OBJ has hung his head a few times, even after wins.

OBJ def has the higher ceiling, but also has a bigger bust factor than Jarvis. Jarvis virtually has no floor. Hes going to come in and be a productive #2 WR in the NFL. OBJ could be a really good or a flop. Either way, both guys arent #1WRs in the league. You can get better value with Landry in the 3rd, rather than taking Beckham in the 1st. If we are taking a WR in the 1st, I hope its Jordan Matthews.

Nice job!

I like seeing someone back up their position with a few facts.

Landry all day, Beckham is overrated. Landry has better hands and runs better routes.

Landry would be my pick between the two.

But but but, I say Mathews in the first, Van Noy (LB) in the second and Landry in the third

I always thought Landry was the better receiver but OBJ is exactly what the saints are lacking

I don't think he is. He didn't blow by CBs at LSU with any kind of regularity. He ran much faster than i thought he would.

Beckham, by a lot.

I think you are going to be proven to be incorrect.

Say we get a chance to draft one of these guys. Which do we grab?

the Saints should have that chance.

I'd want Landry. He is a more polished WR.

I'm sure most people will say OBJ because of his speed.

I'd want Beckham if we're talking at the same draft spot but if they could get Landry 1 or maybe even 2 rounds later, well, Landry then.

OBJ might be a better value since his speed can place him on returns or at wide out. However, Landry has the better hands in my opinion.

His hands may be better but the difference is not a big as the difference between their speed and quickness.

Here were his exact words:

quote:

Ill bet you $100 that they both arent future pro bowlers

When you say "both aren't", that's the same as saying, "neither are". Therefore, once one of the two makes the Pro Bowl, he loses the bet.

Because he chose not to stipulate whether they are voted in or get in as alternates, it's even easier money.

By the way, I've been reading a lot of contracts over the last few days...

Yeah, but you hate all LSU players.

I'd take Landry in the 3rd. I don't think OBJ is worth taking in the first if you can get Landry in the 3rd.

What a fricking ridiculous opinion. I know he's just trolling LSU fans but if he really wouldn't take either of them before the 4th he's an absolute moron.

I would rather have Landry (in 3rd) then OBJ (in 1st)

I disagree with the people that keep saying this.I used to be high on him, but watch his film, yes he is a straight line speed freak, but he gets alligator arms (we already have graham for that role) and he flops after any sort of contact, hell sometimes it doesn't even take contact. IM high on the j. Matthews or laundry later on train.
