I sat through this with the SO the other day. I thought it was terrible. I don't see what the fuss is about. Maybe I'm over this Marvel iteration.

Ok, guy.

Yep. Also didn't think that was really GSP as Batroc at first because GSP isn't a tall guy. They looked about the same height to me during the fight.

What's wrong with that? That's how he was referred to through most of his MMA career.

I felt like that particular exchange was a little forced and a little heavy handed. But I appreciated them bringing back Shandlings character, and the exchange before that about 'pressing the flesh' was funny.

Saw this Friday at Perkins Rowe. Excellent movie. For sure, it's the best Marvel movie since The Avengers. Depending on your taste, it is maybe the best of the bunch, outright.

If you're into the "gritty realism/Dark Knight" thing, then IMHO, it's better than those films. Bigger/better storyline than the first two, and far more realistic than the 3rd. Better action, dark without being whiny or bitchy, and both the female lead and the new sidekick are better too.

somewhere in the thread I saw reference to Sitwell talking about the Iowa valedictorian, found this:

quote:

But what about those high SAT scores, maybe that valedictorian from Iowa? I've read a lot of speculative posts about who Sitwell was referencing within that statement. Most people have determined it's a reference to Marvel genius Amadeus Cho, one of the 7 or 8 most intelligent members of the Marvel comic universe. However, Cho has no connection to Iowa and any references to him wouldn't allude to him being a valedictorian so much as they'd allude to him being a super-genius. So, does Marvel have a valedictorian from Iowa? Yup. It's just that most people wouldn't be familiar with HER. She's a newer addition to the comics and one you wouldn't expect to pop up unless you've been reading Jonathan Hickman's Avengers and Avengers World titles, you might not even know her name: Isabel Kane, Marvel's new Smasher.

Izzy, who was introduced in Issue #1 of Avengers Vol. 5, is a young college Astronomy student who is highly intelligent and grew up on a farm in Iowa where she lives with her grandfather. Her grandfather, as it turns out, is an old ally of Captain America's. While Marvel did some maneuvering with the last name and later turned it to Kane, Izzy's original last name, and the last name of her grandfather, was Dare. That would make her grandfather Dan Dare, aka Captain Terror, a masked WWII hero.

I like the whole shield panel/mj12 thing with the New World Order tied into it. Kinda parallels some conspiracy theories of the real world in that aspect.

Watching the Agents of SHIELD last night, I like how the MCU has a show to explain the little things. Like what's going on with the organization after the events of this movie, and also setting up the little Hydra events.

Yeah, I linked to her wiki page earlier in the thread. Having read that Avengers series, at least early in its run, she hit my mind instantly when he mentioned Iowa.

I just got done rewatching Not Another Teen Movie, and Evans was pretty ripped in that one too. He looked bigger as Captain America, but he's always had the body type.

I don't have much to add here. Not reading 9 pages though.

I really liked how they found time in the movie to dig into Steve Rogers. He still is very much an awkward 5'4" NY boy in a man's body.

Much, much better than the first CA.
