Is it like jewelry where you need to take our a rider? I'm getting to the point where I'd like to have have them covered for peace of mind should anything happen.

Separate policy, I had an old thread on here about it. Let me see if I can find it.

I was able to get a rider in a apt. policy 30 years ago. When I kept adding they freaked and set a limit. Good luck.

Can't tell you how many burglaries I've worked where homeowners paid little to nothing for firearms worth 10x what was paid out.
I specifically remember a Rem 742 with scope that had been handed down. Since it was old they paid like 32 dollars for it

They are limited to a blanket $1500 limit on the standard Louisiana ISO form(I think, most companies only offer $1500 of protection for theft). Some companies limit them for all perils and some offer more coverage. Read your policy. Who are you with?

My renters policy with AllState only covers firearm theft up to $2500...

Call your agent and have them schedule each gun individually. Limits are different on each policy but if you have a few guns it's worth it.

With State Farm there's a max price at which they'll replace firearms. In 2008 it was $2500. All of my guns are now insured individually through the homeowners policy. Well... Most

State Farm covered mine until I got my gun safe.
Not expensive.
It was called a sports something policy.
