Neighbor's Dogs

Our neighbors have several dogs that have completely overtaken their back yard. At night, the dogs go inside the house somewhere but between the hours of 7 and 7 their are outside barking off and on a lot. It really doesn't bother me that much as I've gotten used to it. Our bedroom also insulates the noise pretty well. However, I am in my office now and you can hear it pretty well. My office will be becoming a nursery in September and this is probably going to be a problem then.
Any suggestions? No Im not poisoning or otherwise harming the damn dogs. Do you think talking to the neighbor would help at all once the baby gets here? I wouldn't think so. What are they supposed to do, keep the dogs inside all day? I thought about erecting a more private fence on that side of the yard but I'm not sure that would help.
Suggestions?

Call the cops. They'll take care of it

Call cops. They know how to handle dogs.

I would think your best option is to talk to them about it in a polite, non-demanding way...I don't know what kind of people your neighbors are or if they would be receptive to that, but that's probably your best bet regardless.

It would not.

zero useful answers will be given until this is known

This is key. People are awful defensive about their dogs.

You could put up one of those Bark-off devices on your side of the fence. It lets out a high pitched sound that only dogs can hear, and that's supposed to interrupt the barking pattern. Also harmless to the dogs.

Learn the difference between their and they're first. Then talk to neighbor

What a count you must be.
I've talked to them several times in passing. College professor and a nurse. I don't see them being unreasonable but again people are very defensive about their dogs.

Luck of the draw. You drew a bad neighbor. Your neighbor will more than likely not give a shite about your feelings because apparently, the dogs don't bother him and he possibly enjoys the dogs barking. I have never understood people who have dogs that continually bark. Good luck. You gonna need it.

You might be out of luck. If it's not too early or too late in the day, I think people(and their dogs) are allowed to make all the noise they want as long as it's not insanely loud like a rock concert.

Dog people are the worst, good luck with that. They'd rather see you fricking die before they keep their stupid mutts from disturbing a whole neighborhood of humans that are just trying to live normal lives.

Tough shite.
I wouldn't want my dogs cooped up all day inside either.
Don't want to hear the barking then wear earplugs.

People who leave their dogs outside to bark continuously day after day in a typical neighborhood with closely spaced homes are either unaware of the issue or trash if they are aware of it.

honestly, the only thing the neighbor could really do is to get rid of the dogs...and there is not much of a chance of that happening...
First, in my experience, kids are exceptionally heavy sleepers and once they are ready to sleep, there is not much in the world that can keep them awake...
my suggestion would be to do what you can to soundproof the room...you can do things like install a storm window over the existing window to the room...also, insulated/blackout curtains keep a hell of a lot of sound out of the rooms that I have them on....
