Not sure he'll play QB at the college level.

Certainly seems Cam has a crush on Harris. If he doesn't start it certainly won't be due to lack of attention from Cam.

Who knows.... But weve offered other QBs besides Gibson as well. Wimbush and Tucker Israel. And have guys who we are very interested in, like Jason Pellerin.

Regardless, look at the 2016 class. A handful of really good QB prospects. Bladrick Veal could be the best QB prospect we have had in a while.

We are going to be fine at the QB spot for next season, and in the near future. We have 1 of the best QB coaches in the game in Cameron. He appeals to QB prospects. They want to play for him. No reason to be worried about taking / not taking a QB for next year.

I was speaking more about Gibson than the current QB situation. I still think we take one this season.

Harris needs the most coaching out of the group, so he gets the most coaching.

Jennings will be our starter this year.

There is always concern if you do not take a QB in 1 class. That pipeline has to keep moving. It looks like you are in great shape for 3-4 years to come and that can unravel quickly. In 2006 LSU looked loaded, in 2008 we had no one. I don't care how young the guys we have now are or how loaded the 16 class looks, take the best QB you can get.

I'm not sure why the OP is worried, it seems to me based on the last couple of years that QB recruiting really heats up in May-June. I guess corresponding to the HS's spring practices. If you don't have anyone lined up by August, worry, but in March. No biggie.

Im confused...

And in regards to being short handed at QB in recent years, it wasnt because we didnt take QBs. JaMarcus in 2006, Flynn in 2007, and had Ryan Perrilloux who was a young player with a lot of experience and looked ready to become a big time player. Then he got kicked out, which forced us to play 2 guys that werent ready in JJ and Lee. RP getting kicked out single handily put us back a few years at the QB spot. If he doesnt get kicked out, we are fine.

And im not saying dont take a QB or whatever this year. We should. And we most likely will. But if we dont, no reason to freak out. Cameron knows what he is doing.

Beg to differ.

I don't see any top top names showing major interest due to the fact that we have a lot of young talent in line.

False.

Now, next year, I would say we go hard after a top 5 guy and get him...

Possible.

I like the Winbush guy, and Gibson under Cam could produce something as good as Harris. I really think Harris (after two years of coaching) can be a heisman candidate, and that is no joke. By that time, you'll have juniors in the four WRs we just picked up, a sophomore in Ferguson, a senior in Smith and a junior in Washington at TE. Juniors in Fournette and Williams, and sophomores in Brossette and hopefully Guice.

If we win it all in 2015, no matter who's the QB in 2016, we are repeat champions.

I think the 2014 offense will be better than most people believe. With Cam, I think we will never go below 50 in total offense again.

Sorry, this has nothing to do with this topic, I just wanted to get that out.

we absolutely HAVE to take a qb THIS year. if bh wins the starting job (at any time this season), then both rettig and Jennings may be gone. what would we be left with then.

It's hard to argue this point. I just hope we sign a top-tier guy every year but I'm not sure this will be that year...

why sign with LSU, no chance of playing until maybe and a big maybe as a senior unless another freshman comes in and Les prefers him.

Pellerin to Northwestern looks imminent. It could be a Dak Prescott situation all over again if LSU waits too long.

Wimbush recently committed to PSU. And if Rettig transfers, we definitely need a QB in this class.

He's not coming here, and he's not one of the best QBs in the nation. Most of the schools falling down his list are doing so because they won't even promise him that he'll play QB.

Everyone making comments about 'lol it's only may' need to realize that QB recruiting is an entirely different animal, and the dominos are starting to fall. Hard to say what the staff is thinking right now but it doesn't seem like QB is a huge priority in this class.

The info is around. Lots of people who have seen him at camp think he's a much better WR.
