Fact is the United States became the greatest economy the world has ever seen while facing more regulation then it had in the 19th Century.

You're trying to claim that those regulation were what caused the booming economy and not the fact that the United States had the only intact industrial base in the world after WWII.

The economy succeeded inspite of those regulations not because of them.

In your first two words you give yourself away. Speaking based off of "your feelings" rather than your thoughts. No wonder you're so incredibly wrong so often.

The worst greed of all is Government greed.
Lets be honest. The greatest source of massive greed in this country comes from those that want to take money from "the rich" and give it "the poor "(themselves). Nothing could possibly be more greedy than coveting your neighbor's wealth simply because he has more than you.

It isn't fair. It's greed and envy. And it's not a virtue. Not symptom of a healthy culture.

This. Businesses aren't flocking to China, VN, etc in search of greater regulation.

I posit that a big problem is people acting on "feelings" rather than thoughts.

Just my thoughts on your feelings

No, you failed, brochacho. It's fed more mouths, clothed more people, and housed more people than all of the government on Earth COMBINED.

Explain yourself! Explain how capitalism produced those things.

No "massive inequality" under feudalism, despotism or communism I guess. Really?

"unbridled greed" - please! Greed existed long before capitalism or any market/economic system. It existed when humans were still living in caves gather food for themselves.

"Corporatism" - irony much? Corporatism is the alternative to Capitalism you and you ilk have foisted upon us all.

"war, waste, pollution" - Yea, no war, waste, or pollution in Eden, but we don't live in Eden do we.

Sorry bra...massive fail on your part.

Now that is funny, child labor, unsafe working conditions, six or seven day work weeks, hell yeah lets head back to that.
Government regulation didn't fix those things.

Did Government greed move jobs overseas to increase profit margin?
Government greed for taxes forced this to happen.

Does Government greed put unsafe vehicles on the road to save a buck (GM, Toyota, Ford).
Government regulation on emissions and other manufacturing policies, labor laws, healthcare mandates etc, cause firms to cut corner anywhere they can to make a profit. If they don't make profits we will all be back to walking everywhere, which is probably what you would prefer.

Did Government greed put 8 year olds into Coal Mines to work in the past.
People chose to do that, It's part of freedom.

Why did everyone down vote the OP? The concept of Imperfectability is a cornerstone of both Conservative and Libertarian economic theory. Capitalism DOES suck, in so much as the human condition sucks, and it is the best system amongst many more flawed ones. I up voted.

I think it's funny as hell when people ask if we would like to go back to the 19th century when working conditions were bad as if they were not bad in the 18th century and before all the way back in recorded human history.

The industrial revolution was a transitional phase. Child labor. Guess what? Children had ALWAYS worked. Poverty. Guess what? Before the industrial revolution EVERYONE was poor. Even kings had to piss in a pot and toss it out the window.

The average world wealth per person in 1000 BCE was about 150 dollars per person. It did not exceed 200 per year by 1750. So if you factor in at least 100,000 years of human history it took 97,000 years to go from 100 per person to 150 per person and then another 2750 years to get to 200 per person. Today its 6600 per person. So I wonder what strange idea it was around that time that caused wealth to escalate so quickly?
