Wow learned some interesting things in this thread.
1- Chad is back = MrExclusive ( alter )
2- Jimmy = Cadet ( who pulled this out of their arse?
3- Hondoo likes CCR
4- Whatelse? this thread was all over the place
As for Cadet if he makes the team he might see 2-3 snaps a game. PT will be our 3rd down back for his receiving abilities and his ability to pick up the blitz. I think after the draft and training camp Cadet will be on the outside looking in.

What has he done other than ride the pine for you to think this? He has had a few spot moments in couple preseason games, but other than that not much. He may or may not, IMHO just don't see it.

drafting cooks......lmao thats the new smart pick....its not gonna happen. we dont need him more than other needs...especially since itl take a first round pick. you really think we are gonna take cooks?? we have morgan, stills, colston, graham...if he was megatron...then yes....Hes not. we need other things way more than another fast, short receiver. he will be good but not for us if it costs a first. Not the best pick based on what we need/what he will bring. we need starters at other positions before we need that... but lets see. if 2nd round then go for it

Pat, don't you think you get drawn into the same argument with LE enough?

You're letting a silly internet argument cloud your judgement.
They kept him around for 2 seasons and the coach just gave him a pretty telling endorsement.
The fact that he couldn't crack a talented backfield with 4 RBs doesn't mean he can't succeed. It's more indicative of the skills the other guys' possessed than his supposed lack thereof.

He could very well lose his roster spot to someone more talented that we draft or another udfa. He's not guaranteed a roster spot. It's not silly because you know that's true.

He didn't lose his roster spot when Sproles was around, why would he lose it now? Seems pretty obvious Payton is comfortable with Cadet and expanding his role next year.

As for replacing Sproles in the Saints’ offense, Payton said third-year pro Cadet is certainly in line for more opportunities, and could be used in some of the same ways that Sproles was used.
But Payton stressed that no one player will specifically “replace” a unique playmaker like Sproles.
"Over the years, offensively we've had a number of key contributors to what's been a pretty good offense. There's been times where we've done it without Marques Colston. There was an offense prior to Jimmy Graham, prior to Darren Sproles. And one of the key components is an overall understanding philosophically of where guys need to be,” Payton said. “I don't think you ever replace a skill set like Darren's. It's unique, and it's different really than our league has seen in a while with a player of his stature. But with regards to his touches, with regards to opportunities, Travaris is a guy that has played and is now going into his third year. ...
"(Cadet has) got very good ball skills. He's a guy that can run the routes in that tree, when you talk about a choice route, you talk about an option. He can play from in the backfield, but he can play from extend positions. That doesn't mean necessarily he's a wide receiver. It just means he's a running back in space.”
Payton said Cadet will remain in the mix for the Saints’ lead kickoff returner job. But he said the punt returner job (which used to be manned by Sproles and receiver Lance Moore) remains open.
“We’ll have to see how that competition plays out,” Payton said. “It’s something we’ll pay close attention to.”

I think the in bold is in line with the tweet in the OP

Payton on losing Sproles " I think you can expect (Travaris) Cadet to take on a little more of that role" #saints
Cadet can split out wide like Sproles did, and he'll be competing to do KO returns, but I don't think anyone on the roster as of now can fully take on all the things that Sproles did.

Because we have no idea of who he'll be competing against. They might be better.
