LE and Patrick should each post the number of touches they think Cadet will get during the year. Then they should each post the stats they think he will have.

Then we can revisit whether or not Cadet has as much of a role as LE is saying he will and furthermore how effective he will be.

I really have no clue. I think if he progresses well enough, he'll be splitting some 3rd down snaps with PT. Maybe splitting out in the wide alignments and running some zigs or crossers.

I think he can catch around 50 balls, and maybe have another 50-70 rushing attempts.

the biggest problem will come with having him on the field and not telegraphing run or pass to the defense. (and really this is just a product of having too many RBs who are 1 dimensional..ie Ingram and Robinson)

Exactly why Cadet can fill the void somewhat. He's big enough to run and can catch it out the backfield.

Which is why thinking one of these 4.4 170 lb burners are just gonna come in and do that job is silly. They aren't a threat between the tackles.

This is extremely dependent on who else we get because as Patrick said he is not guaranteed a spot, but with currently only 4 backs and no one else really experienced in the return game he has an edge.

And remember he isn't only competing with other HBs for spots. He's a special teamer and will have to compete with other guys at different positions that could potentially fill the same roles on ST or have a bigger impact on offense or defense than they think he might.

It was a rare case last year that we kept 5 HBs and I don't see a repeat of that barring another stand out runner that gives nothing on special teams. Robinson basically forced that scenario last year.

All that said, if we assume status quo I see him getting no more than 30 catches and maybe 30 runs(just to mix things up with him). Yardage is hard to predict but I don't see him being a big YAC guy so maybe 200 yards receiving and 130 rushing with maybe 3 receiving TDs and 0 rushing TDs.

so he catches 30 balls, who catches the other 105 that our RB's usually catch per year in a Sean Payton offense?

I think we're going to reduce the amount of catches for our running backs.

Isn't there a guy who led the NFL in catches for a RB on our team?

How effective do you think he will he be in that role. (receiving yards and rushing yards)

This.

Just like it wasn't mandatory for a TE to catch 80-90 balls a year like Graham is doing now, it isn't necessary that a HB(or 2 or 4) make up 100+ catches.

I think Brees more than ever had to settle for a ton of check downs due to our OLine issues to start the year. Hopefully this year the line gives him more than 2-3 seconds damn near every down.

7.5 per catch

4.4 per carry

roughly

I don't think those are bad estimates.

meh, it was more our WRs not getting open, and not much has changed on that front

maybe we'll run it 500x's like we did in the SB year

I think there was a mix of both issues(Oline and WR), but either way he definitely had to dump the ball of quick a lot more than in the past.

Why do folks feel like we HAVE to replace Sproles? I think Cadet is going to be a fine Travaris Cadet.

What I've seen of Cadet makes me think he's a poor man's Darren Sproles. Good hands but he's slow as frick and awful acceleration.
