Based on my research I've decided to get a Carrier 3 ton 13 Seer A/C. Does anyone here have a Carrier? Like it? Wish you'd gone with another system?
I ruled out Trane/American Standard b/c I was told they don't use a scroll compressor, which I was told was the best compressor.
I ruled out Rheem/Ruud b/c an Hvac tech told me their weird shaped coils are almost impossible to clean completely.
Amana and Goodman get horrible reviews almost everywhere.

May also consider Bryant as their made by Carrier.

Is my info wrong? I just want something reliable.

FYI: my electric bill last Aug never got above $100 with my 20+ year old unit that is likely a seer 9 or something. No reason for me to spend the extra money on seer 14 or higher just to save a few bucks a month (someone did the calculation and it would save like $5-$8 a month or less if I went higher seer.

Isn't Carrier the one that has/had the aluminum coils? Have they changed that? What about Lennox, I think Goodman is a lower end Lennox, most people I know use Lennox.

Trane, American Standard or Carrier. Stay away from all that other junk.

I did HVAC work for a few years. I'd never choose a Goodman. Ever.

Carrier makes excellent equipment, however, it's also incredibly expensive, and can be a nightmare when it's time to change out.

Trane will be about the same story, pricewise.

I was actually quite fond of Rheem and Comfort Maker, when I was doing that work. They're cheaper, aftermarket coils are readily available, and they're only hard to clean if you're lazy.
