Hey Bojangles,

Yes, Terry was a great NFL hall of fame quarterback. I played in the same district as Terry did and I also ran track. Terry at one time held the national high school record in the javelin. His record of 244'11" is still the longest throw recorded in the state. All Louisiana state track & field records must be recorded during the state high school meet. He also had and injury to his throwing arm and recorded a shorter throw in the state meet.

What's impressive to consider is that if she has the 5th longest throw in LSU history and the 19th longest in NCAA women's history, that simply means LSU women own 5 of the 19 longest throws ever. Strong-armed southern girls lol

Yeah I was just messing around. I knew he was known as one of the best javelin throwers at that time. Hell of an athlete. That really is a cool story, getting to compete against an athlete that impressive.

In high school, all basketball players had to run track because our coach was also the track coach. In the district meet, our javelin guy had to cancel at the last minute so he made me do it. I had never thrown one in my life. It's hard as hell. We had 4 throws. First throw I hit the back of my head with it and with a loud clang it went end over end about 15 feet. Everyone was laughing. Embarrassing as hell. I finished last by a huge margin with a throw of like 45 feet. Seriously. I had a really good arm being a pitcher and shortstop but throwing that thing is nothing like it. It's impressive to see a freshman throw it that distance.

I still can't fathom how far they are able to throw these things. If you never have, give it a try. My school had two different girls win State in javelin but I'm thinking they were around 110 feet or so. Can't remember the exact distances. It's a class B school though. Still way farther than I could.
