I saw some posters talking about their favorite books on the hurricane but can't remember which ones. Help me out and give me some suggestions and descriptions of what's good

Breach of Faith is the one we had to read in LA History at LSU

Chris Rose put one out, I think it was called "One Dead in the Attic". It was ok, but nothing special.

There really are so many fascinating aspects about Katrina that I'm sure someone has to have a very good in depth book out.

The great deluge was pretty good. Douglas Brinkley wrote it.

I read the The Great Deluge by Douglas Brinkley and enjoyed it. One weird thing I learned is many of the looters of businesses would defecate in drawers or on counters or in unique places. WTF is that about?

Heroin, Hurricane Katrina, and the Howling Within: An Addiction Memo - interesting book from the prospective of a heroin addict that was in the city during and the immediate aftermath of the storm.

The prologue to In Search of the Yellow Dog starts with Katrina. Book is written by one of the regular posters on TD.

Haven't been able to crack open Doug Brinkley's book, mostly because he's such a douche.

But as far as a print reporter's account of the aftermath of Katrina, Jed Horne's "Breach of Faith" was about as comprehensive as it gets.

It's kind of a depressing topic really. Try reading the sports books about how teams overcame the adversary of the storm to be successful. See: LINK and LINK. I think there is also a Tulane football book out as well. If you absolutely must read about the government's actions during and after the storm, try Sally Forman's book: LINK. It's pretty good.

"Generals die in bed" by william yale harrison was great to read.

So was "the things they carried" by Tim O'Brien.
