shite don't even try to push that on me. I'll take a cab to the office if you stay late to give it to me. Sounds like a fair trade

I'm good.
That sucks man. My wife and I saw the news story last week about this shite happening again. It's been going on off and on for the past few years. Makes me happy I only have these wheels. Apparently they're not good enough to even be stolen.

The great deluge was pretty good. Douglas Brinkley wrote it.
Reading this now, really good so far. Shows how awesome C-RAY was during the storm.

My late fiance was a firefighter who was in the superdome for Katrina. The hell he went thru haunted him till the day he died. Some really effed up crap happened. There is a special place in hell for the POS thugs who were shooting at the firefighters and other first responders.
We've been through this many a times on TD. I believe those accounts may be exaggerated. "POS thugs shooting at firefigthers", etc.

I read the The Great Deluge by Douglas Brinkley and enjoyed it. One weird thing I learned is many of the looters of businesses would defecate in drawers or on counters or in unique places. WTF is that about?

Agree, alot of stories from that time were exaggerated.
I still have family that thinks they were raping and murdering people in the dome by the hundreds. They were also spreading the rumors at the time that people were getting knifed at gas stations all over BR during the first week after Katrian and to be prepared for possible riots in downtown BR.

This, my friend, is true. Keep in mind, with the electricity out and no one up keeping restrooms, sewage pipes backed up, etc. Therefore, the restrooms at a hotel lobby or gas station after about day 3 were out of toilet paper and so nasty you would not want to go in. So, you crap in a clean spot, i.e. businesses.

The Great New Orleans Gun Grab was pretty good, lot of stories of non-thug citizens protecting their homes and properties from.....the others out and about those crazy nights after the storm. Would recommend

"City of refuge" is a fiction book based off of survivors stories that give really good insight on how the storm was different for whites and blacks.

I liked One Dead in Attic. Its a collection of Chris Rose's articles from the storm.

Any talk of the NOPD and State Police getting into shoot outs on it?

Heroin, Hurricane Katrina, and the Howling Within: An Addiction Memo - interesting book from the prospective of a heroin addict that was in the city during and the immediate aftermath of the storm.

Well, my brother was on the overpass by the Dome with the evacuated prisoners for a week and they 100% saw people shooting at rescue helicopters. There was also a lot of military in the area and there were a lot of gunshots at night. Those stories I believe. It's the ones about S.E.A.L.S popping out of the water and taking people out and rapes in BR that I think are full of shite.

The prologue to In Search of the Yellow Dog starts with Katrina. Book is written by one of the regular posters on TD.

Haven't been able to crack open Doug Brinkley's book, mostly because he's such a douche.
But as far as a print reporter's account of the aftermath of Katrina, Jed Horne's "Breach of Faith" was about as comprehensive as it gets.
