To avoid gang violence?

Pay $20k a year to have my kid graduate from Country Day just to send him to LSU with the same kids that graduated from East St John.
I do think $20K is just stupid, but the kids going to great private schools aren't sending their kids to LSU.

Well yes some of them are. Maybe not do much Country Day I was just poking fun at them.
A lot of those kids go to other SEC Schools like Alabama.

Too many Blue Gays in this thread.
Seriously, my only point is that you're not rolling up a 2 story house, multiple new cars, 30k in tuition, feeding 3 hungry kids on a true "middle class" income unless you're getting financial aid.
30k would be IMO 1/3 of a middle class income.

You lose TOPS when you go out of state & rich people are rich not stupid. That's throwing away $$$

Wasn't talking about these schools and their tuition are under $10K, not the close to $20K post that I was responding too.
I'm guessing that the kids from St. Martin Episcopal, Sacred Heart, Country Day, etc are going up to the northeast.
Hell, even alot of your average Jesuit/Catholic high guys end up at Alabama and Ole Miss.

Most people in my class went to LSU. It's hard to turn down TOPS. Ideally the education helps you to succeed once you get to wherever you decided to go to college. It would be interesting to see the graduation rate of the other fellows in my class.

Depends on where you live. Public schools are great where we live.

I noticed this too.
Living from paycheck to paycheck making $250,000 a year.

What's most important to you? That's the question that is answered. If private school for your kids is most important, then of course a middle class family can afford it. If not, then a bigger house, more expensive vehicles, nicer vacation, etc will play more of a role. People usually get in the habit of maxing out what they can afford to spend on homes and vehicles especially, but that also says what's most important to them, does it not? People also blow arse loads of cash on eating out almost every night rather than cooking at home, or on weekends, and reheating during the week. That's also a choice as well.

As someone else said, not true, but the ones who are have so much money that 20K a year is nothing
