This is so messed up if true. A kid is dead because this guys daughter lied. I dont belive the part about the kid reaching for something, makes it seem to justifiable in my opinion. Father probably acted just on daughters words and shot the kid. Once the daughter confessed to actually knowing the teen killed, thats probably when the father started having his "medical event" because he realized what he had just done.

Sounds very plausible. Still though, the dad shouldn't go to jail. You don't have to fear for your life if you believe an intruder is in your house. To his eyes, he saw a man he didn't know in his daughter's room. Of course he's shooting him.

Did the daughter commit a crime though? Not really IMO. Chalk this one up to don't go fricking around in somebody's house you don't know.

Damn that's just a few miles from my house. If I hear something I'll come back in here. Have any names or races been released?

I don't know, it was good enough to risk your life over it.

I would yell sternly and tell him to GTFO, as most would I'm sure. IF he pushed me or layed his hands on me, then he will meet my judge. I probably wouldn't shoot him, but if after drawing my gun on him and he continued the altercation, then he's gone. I don't see the problem with that at all.

Come on dude. I guess you shoot every person that fricks your wife too.

Here is an interesting scenario. Say that it's your son that was shot in this instance and the dad somehow walks. Would you be able to let it go or would you be seeking revenge on the dad that shot him?

If these facts are true and the daughter really denied knowing him, then the Dad should fricking walk. You then have to your knowledge a man in your daughter's room reaching for something you have no idea what he's reaching for.

Really? The daughter lied. Kid is dead cause the daughter had her innocent image dashed and was obviously afraid of her father. I fell bad for the father in that situation, but a seemingly innocent kid is dead because his daughter was to afraid to tell him she was having sex.

I wouldn't be happy about losing my kid, but I would understand. Of course, I will try to make sure my son isn't stupid enough to pull some shite like this.

You say this as if it's a bad thing. You have to have strict property and personal defense laws with all the illegals and Katrina leftovers here.

How cheaply do you value human life? A person's life is generally worth more than a piece of property. JMO.

It's your son though. Someone killed your son. I don't think many people could let that go.

Looks like this guy gets the t-shirt reading "Dads Against Dating - Shoot the first one and word will spread."

Based on the facts of the case presented so far, he walks because he'd been lead to believe the boy was an intruder, the kid was not following commands to leave the house, and reached for something.

I'm unsure if the daughter gets charged with anything but she sure deserves a good chunk of the blame for inviting the kid in and then lying about it. She pretty much threw him under the bus as a burglar / potential rapist by doing so.

I value mine and my family's much more than the rest. If I catch someone stealing my shite while I'm home, I am going to make a sweeping generalization and think they are willing to injure or kill us.

I cant deny any of this to be honest....Just a tragic situation.

Crazy to think they could both walk tho.

What a dumbass. You don't stick around and try to fight the dad. You get your arse out of there before he shoots you. Whats wrong with stupid teens nowadays?

You're missing out on the key part of the story. "kid was asked to leave and did not comply."

Depending on what and how this non-compliance happened the dad and daughter may both walk.
I would think that the dad's extremely obvious motive would make it hard to get away with the castle doctrine though. It's hard to imagine a scenario where the dad was a willing participant in the confrontation. I mean it's possible he wasn't, but with the motive already there I think they'll have to prove it.
