re: Dad shoots teen boy found in his daughters bed

When I was a teenager, my girlfriend's Dad caught us in the bed one night, both of us naked.
I could tell that it just about broke his heart. He got over it though, and even after I broke up with his daughter, he still liked me, and invited me to go fishing and hunting with him.
He even gave me an old truck one time, it needed some work, but was still running.

Intruder in your home: justifiable homicide.
A teenager invited into your home by your own teenage daughter is not an intruder.
I can't just execute every kid my kids invite over just because I don't like them. Why is that so hard to comprehend?

If I missed any from the reports let me know, because this is all I have seen so far...
you may have missed the part where the report says the boy reached for something
quote:
The boy apparently wasn't listening to the father's commands and reached for something. It ended with 17 year old being shot and killed at the scene.
also.....
quote:
the father complained of possible panic attacks after the shooting and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Shhhh, don't ruin their internet delusions of one day being a gun toting hero

then I wouldn't lose sleep over it at all if I shot them and got to keep my family's quality of life higher.
I highly doubt this, people like to think shooting a criminal would be easy, but look at cops... They are highly trained to take down criminals and even when some of them shoot a known criminal that deserves it, it can screw them up really bad. Shooting someone is not as easy as some home defenders think.

Are you so stupid that you didnt read the first sentence of my post?
You certainly selectively quoted and took it out of context.
I SAID NOT TALKING ABOUT THE SITUATION IN TEXAS.

This makes it sound like he didn't want to do it but did so out of fear

They also don't take into account that it will cost you A LOT of money defending yourself from either criminal prosecution, civil litigation or both.

I haven't seen that part yet, link it.

quote:The daughter lying isn't a get out of jail free ticket IMO. It should lower the charges a little bit but somebody still has to pay for the dead 17 year old. You assume risk raising a kid.
The daughter lying about him being an intruder and him refusing to follow instructions buys the dad enough leeway to get off, as a reasonable person would see this as a case of the dad being fearful of his family's safety.

At least civil penalties are a nonissue in louisiana...or were the last time I read the statutes.

That's what someone "heard" not a report.

So no other injuries and the other guy is shot in the head while underneath the bed?

Which is why I would want to avoid it at all costs. It's not something I fantasize or want to happen at all. I know there are some home D freaks who look for an opportunity, but I really don't want it.

In.
Interestingly enough, that's what the boy said right before he was shot.

What? So because he thinks it's an intruder/rapist/pedo/etc. and he's justified, tough fricking shite. You had a kid.

So it was reported by the guy who shot someone underneath a bed.

Interesting, it doesn't say anything about him being under the bed though.
Will be interesting to see what the cops get from the daughter and if she got coached by the father.
What a shitty move by the daughter if she did claim she didn't know the guy. Then the dad would think she was getting raped.
