My friend her mom is blind. I think late 40's they sound like they have alot in common.

However we might look at it, it's imperative he doesn't look at it as a disability.
I see what you did there. Pun not intended.
This has actually been a good thread to read. I admire what the OP is doing. Really a selfless thing to do and good to see somebody just trying to be a good friend.

He can call up my wife and talk to her anytime he wants to, so long as it keeps me from having to listen to her.

I don't have much experience with blind people but I have to imagine if he got a dog and just walked around that would be a pretty good conversation starter. It can't be easy though. I hope he's successful.

Dude a guy I hangout with everyday is blind.. Just recently broke up with his girlfriend.. First one he's had in a really long time.. Anyway the way he met her was by the best wingman in the world.. Me.. So I met her ask her to play pool then invite her to another bar.. Then hop out of the car I'm driving at a red light to ask her if she partook.. So go back to the house.. Leave and go to another bar.. I "accidentally" left him there.. And I texted him to remind him to get her number.. So naturally he blames me for their breakup
Wait....what?

Help him a dog. Women are drawn to guys with dogs.
Find him a middle aged chubby girl.
Profit.
Good on you for sticking by him. Bellas ball at lauberge on the 20th. Lots of kind hearted people there. A lot of older single women too.

Anyway, this is the best thread on the OT in a while. You're a great friend.

He needs to get a service dog. Instant in. And if he has a good joking personality he can take it the rest of the way.

From a woman's perspective is tell you this. Most women have a caretaker instinct, and if your friend is charming and funny and okay with life, then I don't see a lot of women not being able to overlook his ability to not see. What I think the biggest red flag is in what you described, is the fact that he's a grown man that lives with his mother and isn't holding down some sort of job, even if it doesn't pay the bills, at least it would get him out of the house and make him productive and aware of the world in a more visceral way.
Does he talk about wanting a girlfriend? If you guys are very close then it shouldn't be too hard for you to explain to him how much women value confidence and independence in a man, and that learning those things would help him meet someone who can see past what he can't. good luck to you.
