Shouldn't have gotten your hopes up. It was mentioned earlier that Australia = Mississippi.

This is the 4th attempt. 0 for 3 in previous attempts, this one is still pending.

I withdraw the tone. I certainly don't want to be seen as an arse.

Why all the blame for the Aussies, it was the U.S. company DigitalGlobe that took the images and found the debris, they just gave the info to the Aussie authorities because they were closest to the area.

Im amazed that they don't have better satellite images that can zoom in and make a definitive call on what it is.

For fricks sake, Google maps can zoom in and see down to what type of shoes someone is wearing.

CIA undoubtedly can but won't reveal they can.

I had a buddy that worked for defense department in Hawaii as an analyst. Weird as frick, but told me about the satellites they used. He could zoom in and see what your hat said in basically HD, but the satellites are in orbit so he can't just pick and choose what to look at 100% of the time.

Just heard on CNN radio that they do have the capability. They're not allowed by US law to release anything of higher resolution.

The image was taken days ago. They don't know exactly where it is this instant to zoom in on it.

not in real time

the government has live satellites that can do that, but they're in orbit so they have to wait until it's above what they're looking at.

I know that, but the capability is there.

Understand, but I would think that another sat with the capabilities has that same shot with the ability to zoom.

I know that, but what I am saying is that I don't see how a more "Capable" satellite didn't pass over that area around the same time. To where they could go back, pull that sat data, and zoom in on that area

What CNN was saying was that DigiGlobe satellites probably have the ability to show much higher resolution. However, there is a US law that restricts them from publishing images over a certain resolution. That doesn't mean they don't have them or that they haven't shared higher res images with the searchers - they just can't show them in the media.

Unless there's some political gain to be had or Hollywood is making a movie then all bets are off.
