That left both Rio Grande Valley clinics dependent solely on revenue from services like pap smears and pregnancy tests for the coming weeks - a prospect that had long cast doubt on their future.

Odd. All these clinics talk about is how abortions are a small % of their "women's health" services, yet they can't even keep the doors open without them. Can anyone explain this to me?

Sure. As a percentage of revenue, procedures are what generate the most revenue for any medical proceduralist. But most of there actual time is spent doing preventative or medical exams, which bring in peanuts in comparison. He's probably have to perform almost 30 pap smears to generate the same amount of revenue that one abortion would.

So you take away his procedures, though it may only amount to a half a day per week, and he's in the red.

Pretty clear?

Proper answer to this one is......"Didn't know the bill would cause that.........didn't realize so many of these clinics were 'substandard'".
