That's just Hugo trying to get you to evaluate his admin application.

I block them on my iphone.

Yeah, they're pretty terrible. Even worse, is apparently, my current phone # of 10 years+ was once some deadbeat's number. That motherfricker must owe money to every fricking business imaginable. And he must still give out my number as his number.
Medical bills, credit cards, payday loans, appliance stores, you name it, this motherfricker has defaulted on it. The worst part is when they call, they accuse me of lying being this deadbeat bitch. I hate that guy.

Assuming they are calling your cell phone. I know the iPhones have a block caller setting. I would only assume Androids have the same.

Hi, this is Kate with legal financial calling you about an important business matter.

There's nothing you can do until someone shuts down their operation. Do Not Call List is useless because these are scammers, not solicitors with a legitimate product. They aren't operating within the law, so reporting them does no good (they spoof their phone number for a reason). I've been on the Do Not Call List for years, and I only get calls from obvious scam artists, including Account/Card Services.
You can block the numbers to cut back on how often they call, but since they regularly spoof different numbers, you'll still get the calls.

You can't beat them. They are overseas spammers who don't give a frick about a do not call list. They spoof their numbers so the numbers will come from all over the US. In short, you are on the list and nothing you can do can get you off. The FTC shuts them down over and over and within a week they pop back up with a new business doing it over again. Robocalls are illegal and the FTC is giving money away to whoever can come up with something to stop them. The best idea so far is a service that answers for you, makes sure you are human and then forwards the call to you.
I get between 5 and 20 calls a week. I usually tell them I want to frick their hairy buttholes and other nasty things. They hate that.

Try paying your bills on time

Answer the phone. Find out the companies name and then send a cease and desist letter via certified mail.

I just get mad and start yelling into the phone "DO NOT CALL LIST! DO NOT CALL LIST!!!!!!!" Over and over again. Works for me.

Change to a VoIP carrier like CallCentric that gives you the tools to manage your phone. I haven't gotten an unwanted call in four months since I switched over.
One of the most effective blockers is a message to anyone not in your address book to press a number to be connected. If it's a robocall it can't do that. It's also easy to add callers to your block list and they get the familiar message that this number has been disconnected. All this for $11 a month and that included porting over my ATT number and 911 registration. I'm sold on this service.
BTW, if you have phone service from U-Verse or your cable company, you already have VoIP but with only a primitive set of tools.

First, register your number on the Do Not Call list.
Secondly, ask them to take you off of their internal call list (this is not the FTC's DNC) but make sure to ask for the name of the company and the name and employee ID of the person making the call, and for a callback number BEFORE you ask them to take you off the call list.
Also write down the number that they called from. If you get a call from the same number or company after you ask them to stop, use the callback number and ask to speak to a manager (not a supervisor). After you wait a few hours and finally get someone on the phone, raise hell. If they continue to call, file a complaint with the FTC.

Am on the do not call list. But when I get the inevitable calls anyway, I do not engage them in any conversation. When it isn't a recording, I just interrupt and blurt out: "Not interested, thank you, goodbye." And hang up. Takes about 2 or 3 seconds and I'm done. Sometimes I add: "Do not call me or this number again." Click.

I tell them that he (meaning me) died a few days ago. They will try to get off quick. Then you can start messing with them but acting like they just reminded you of your lost friend/husband/wife

Sometimes I just frick with them. One of my charades is to come off as a schizophrenic off his meds, so I'm hearing voices. I then accuse the caller of being some demon who's trying to control my mind. Trust me, I never hear back from those people.
