Thanks.
Life would not be worth living without liberalism, but in politics, it is its own worst enemy.
quote:I like to listen to Walton & Johnson after I write my monthly health insurance check. It's medicinal, but I still realize that a lot of their views are just thinly-veiled racism and mindless Obama hatred for the sake of it and that, ultimately, it's bitter and self-destructive.
politics is all absurd and Rush is fun to listen to because of his general understanding of the liberal mindset. He is not racist or sexist, but he plays the left like a fiddle
quote:Exactly. That should be the new DNC motto. They don't care what harm they do in the long term or how much strife, hatred and conflict they create. They just want the cheap votes RIGHT NOW. They want everything right now.
Politics has become more about emotions and less about facts/results. If it feels good who cares about long-term consequences?

Seriously? Who posted this?
If i haven't actually posted it, then I retroactively post it.
That is what you get when you let split-tails vote.

Why would any woman support your candidates, given this admission? Stockholm Syndrome? You think this belief makes you a man? Actually, it indicates to me that you're an insecure pencil-dick who thinks that if he imprisons a woman, she'll never get the chance to figure out what a real man is like.
The "republicans are racist" mantra is bullshite, but this is apparently real. Thanks for proving it. Good luck, tough guy. There is nowhere to go but down with that attitude.

I haven't seen the movie either, but is it possible that it won because...it's a great movie?
It's the academy awards so, no.

But Ellen basically said the same thing in her opening monologue. So is she also part of the "racist right wing conspiracy theory"?

Ever since Halle Berry won an Oscar by playing the race card Hollywood has been susceptible to this tactic.
I don't go to the movies so I can't voice an opinion on which film was the year's best. However, knowing those who vote for the winners at this award show may have their opinions skewed by social issues does not warrant the anger the OP demonstrates. It is what it is.

If rush Limbaugh is liberalisms greatest weapon, the ideology has hit rock fricking bottom

If an actor wants to guarantee winning an Oscar for Best Actor, all he has to do is portray a gay, transsexual, African American, unwed mother with AIDS who is raped and murdered by a conservative radio talk show host.....

You're going to quote a Left Wing editorial writer from the Daily Beast?
Whether or not your theory has credibility, it seems as if you could cite a more "scholarly" study, and not the ravings of the perpetually offended.

I knew 12 Years a Slave was going to win and I had never seen it either. I also knew MM would win for Dallas Buyers Club. So would the co-star guy. It's Hollywood. It's what they do. It wasn't hard to figure out.
This.
Hollywood likes to make their statements. It is what it is.

Afflictions certainly help. Gays are probably the biggest winners (Capote, Milk, Philadelphia, Midnight Cowboy, this year) mentally challenged (Rain Man, Forrest Gump),blinds (Ray, Scent of a Woman). Past winners include a drunk, a stutterer, and a one-legged (?) soccer player.

This thread is an orgy of futility. 1) Complain about Limbaugh railing on Libs, 2) Complain about Hollywood backing a liberal agenda movie.
Also interesting, the "extra" gay agenda stuff in DBC. Not that it wasn't a worthy performance by MM - it certainly was. But I'm sure adding characters and story lines to the real story to make a more distinct mea culpa of anti-gay beliefs helped a lot.

The universe is a constant balancing act. The Rushes are there to balance out the Harry Reids or Nancy Pelosis or Rachel Maddows. The liberals who do not even need to read bills created by other democrats to pass them type idiots.

I don't watch movies and I don't watch the Oscars. But I keep up with politics and current events like a maniac. And Vladimir Putin just got nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. So, I know that winning an Oscar does not make you the best movie. Winning Miss America does not make you the prettiest girl in the country. Judges have agendas.
Posted on 3/5/14 at 11:11 am to blueboy
I also knew it would win based on the subject matter alone and I hadn't seen it either.

i am pretty far left, for here, and even I knew 12 years was a shoe in. I haven't seen it and won't watch it, I can't stand movies about the holocaust or slavery. They are just overdone.
Dallas Buyers Club was excellent though, and both MM and leto did phenomenal jobs.
