Mahi is always a winner. Tilapia is served n messican joints everywhere, but people on here will throw stones at it.

Wish I could get my hands on some up here...

If cooked....nothing wrong with that.
If ceviche tacos...I like red tuna or escolar.

I usually use grilled salmon and occasionally tuna. But Mahi is good too.

Specks are awesome. So is flounder.
Tilapia is good as it really has no flavor of it's own and takes on what ever flavor you give it.

Yep. Small flounder as well. Always stuff and bake the big ones

Salmon or tilapia should be fine and easily attainable. I would suggest smoked paprika and cilantro and a squeeze of lemon.
I think your catfish would work also if farm raised.

Those look legit. I wanna do some kind of cilantro and mango infusion. My mom is making the tortillas for me.

often I have some sort of sauce/topping that I go mango (or satsuma in season).
Have really gotten into making souped up coleslaws. Cilantro, jalapeno, siracha, mangos, green apples, IPA....

Your mom is Mexican?
Any fish you can get your hands on works for fish tacos.
Chopped cilantro, chopped onion, salt, pepper, diced mango, diced tomato, lime juice. Maybe some chopped fine garlic but only maybe. A black bean and roasted corn also tossed in..

I used to use blackened catfish but the wife and I found to be a bit to oily for our test. We now use meaty white fish.....hallibut, mahi, grouper.
