Bryan Fuller has said next season will be his take on the books "Hannibal" and "Hannibal Rising" which takes place after Hannibal escapes from custody and joins up with Clarice.

He is doing the books out of order, which is cool.

Since they don't have the rights to Clarice, I'm assuming Bedelia will be the stand in for her.

Also, Fuller said his Hannibal origin story will be completely different from the origin story in the books.

Just watched the finale last night WOW!!!!

Who the frick is going to be left alive? Jack sounded like he was death rattling at the end, Will is gutted and spewing blood, Abigail is cut ear to ear and I believe we saw her die on screen this time, Alana looks to be in the best shape but probably has a broken back.

WTF is up with Scully.

Is next season skipping straight to the movie Hannibal plot line where he is in Paris? If so will a Clarice be in it?

I've never read the books just seen all the films.

I get confused sometimes though. Is Jack in this show the same character Dennis Farina played in Manhunter and is Will the same guy that Grissom played in Manhunter?

I love this show and think it is better than The Americans - frick you SFP

Can someone explain this to me? How can they use every other character but not clarice?

Bryan Fuller doesn't have rights to any of the characters that originated in Silence of the Lambs. Those rights are owned by MGM.

MGM is doing a show based on Clarice Sterling but they can't use the Hannibal character in it.

Yes, except Will was played by Petersen not Grissom. I get confused sometimes having seen all of the movies and only reading a couple of the books. I did not see Will being gutted and Hannibal escaping. Unless I am wrong, I thought Will was gutted when Hannibal was caught. I know this is just based loosely on the books and Fuller's Hannibal is in its own universe.

Agreed. I watch both and enjoy Hannibal a lot more.

William Petersen will always be Gil Grissom to me.

Just like in future Hannibal threads Gillian Anderson will be called Scully.

I had to look it up, I never watched CSI. I did not know who Gil Grissom was.

I haven't read the thread as I am still in the first 25% of the season, doing a marathon to finish up the season today. This show has gotten so much better than last year. I was almost ready to give up on the show and it is amazing how much the cast has come together and the show has taken off on a really dark path.

The only thing that irritates me is how much Jack refuses to listen to Will despite the lack of evidence. Will was brought in to help and they took his word as gospel until he pointed at Hannibal.

Just finished the finale and wow, that is how you burn the house down before taking off. I take a shite on NBC for a lot of their bullshite with shows but they didn't shy away from that finale, bravo to them.

The people who survive I think depends on if Fishburne has another year on the contract. I would think that if it were going to cost them a good bit that they would let him die plus if the show goes overseas then he would either have to go completely rogue or be useless to the search. I certainly see Alana surviving but most likely paralyzed or recovering from a broken back. Will is the one I am not sure of. He is an amazing character and the only one who could match Hannibal's intellect but with him already knowing about Hannibal, I think they let him die. The chase wouldn't be as interesting as figuring it out.

Ugh, that makes me kind of nervous.

It's fricking bullshite they don't have the rights to Clarice.

Regardless, brutal finale.

Hmm... Hannibal without Clarice or Clarice without Hannibal... I think NBC made out on the right side of that deal.

LOL, I feel the same way. Had both on the DVR, almost the entire season of The Americans is still sitting there. Will delete today.

Man that was an awesome finale.

I am really hoping this show gets some of the Emmy recognition it deserves, most of the reviews I have seen of the second season and the finale especially have been extremely positive.

As far as predictions go, I think everyone but Abigail lives. I'm curious to hear predictions on next season from people who have read the books.

Good point... no idea if she was missing one.
