People are nit picking him to death because he is gay.
Posted on 2/27/14 at 6:04 pm to FootballNostradamus
This is why the coaching turnover is so high in the NFL. Most of them have no idea of what they're doing.
Sometimes you give the guy a chance because he's a good football player. SEC defensive player of the year going undrafted? Gotta be kidding me.

Add in his poor combine numbers and it's easy to see how he might go undrafted.

Before his announcement, Sam had already emerged as a divisive prospect. Some look at his SEC-best 11.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss and see a high-motor pass rusher who could go as high as the third round. Others see Sam, who is 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, as an undersized defensive end without a true position in the NFL. Of his 11.5 sacks, nine came in three games against what one scout called "garbage competition" -- Vanderbilt, Arkansas State and Florida. "His numbers are inflated," a scout said. "You've got to see through that."

OK who sues the NFL for being racist if he goes undrafted?

Did you forget that he was SECDPOTY?
That is irrelevant to his draft status. Tommie Frazier was one of the best college players of all time and went undrafted

SEC DL/LB DPOY winners:
Chad Lavalais - 5.09 forty 27.5 (?) in. vertical
David Pollack - 4.75 forty, 37 in. vertical, 25 reps
Demeco Ryans - 4.65 forty, 39 in. vertical, 23 reps
Patrick Willis -4.51 forty, 39 in. vertical, 22 reps
Glenn Dorsey - 5.12 forty, 25.5 in. vertical, 27 reps
Rolando McClain -4.68 forty, 35 in. vertical, 24 reps
Jarvis Jones - 4.92 forty(pro day), 30.5 in. vertical, 20 reps
Michael Sam - 4.91 forty, 25.5 in. vertical, 17 reps
He's slower than most of the linebackers but only marginally faster than the DTs with worse upper body strength than all of them. It's not looking great for Sam.

Don't know about everyone of these guys, but most of them were good for 2-3 years straight making a name for themselves. They also played great during most competition. Sam wasn't even known til about half way through this season. What is he a 4th, 5th year senior? Undersized and has a horrible combine? He probably needs to drop some weight and learn to play one of the LB position.
If 90% of his highlights are against crap offenses, that's a red flag.

That is irrelevant to his draft status.

He didn't say his competition was weak, he said the competition he produced against was weak, and he has an argument.
My argument was that being SECDPOY is irrelevant to his draft status because it is, hence the Frazier reference.

If the SEC Defensive Player of the Year goes undrafted, I think I'll be OK with that because frick the SEC and its idiot redneck fans.
Posted on 2/27/14 at 9:37 pm to Sevendust912
Why all the hate on Vanderbilt? They finished the season ranked in the top 25 with a bowl win last season.
