quote:again, Stan van Gundy flat out said the Pacers were better off with Granger as opposed to Turner. He is not a biased Heat fan.
To argue that the addition of Turner doesn't make Indy better than they were last year is only one a biased fan would make.

Well if Stan Van Gundy said it, then there is absolutely no disputing it. It's settled folks.

Granger wasn't active last year. The original point was that this Pacers team is currently better than last year's team that took Miami to 7.

No, my original point was that the pacers were a better team this year than last and a fanboy disputed it. Why, IDK but if you don't proclaim the Heat are the best team ever around here you're a hater It's obvious they are better, potentially a lot better with Turner and anything Bynum could possibly give.
And did you really just say that it's factually incorrect that Turner is a better player than Granger? I hope you meant to say defender, because if not you look pretty ridiculous for calling out people disagreeing with Stan Van Gundy while essentially doing the same thing with the Pacers front office

Evan Turner is the new Rudy Gay.

There are no stats that show it's an upgrade. The offensive stats are similar and Granger has been much better on defense. We'll see how much of that has to do with the teams they played on though. I think it's pretty telling that all Philly could get for Turner (and taking on salary) was a 2nd round pick.

What playoff game has the NBA ever "gifted" the heat?
Game 2 vs. The Celtics in '11 iirc.

I'd rather have Bynum/Scola/Turner than Granger/Psycho T/insert center.
The risk vs. reward is there for the Pacers. If they have home court I still like their chances, but it really all comes down to the health and consistency of Wade.

What happened?
Just checked. The Heat went on a 14-0 run in the last 7 minutes of the game and won by double digits.
Obviously rigged

Larry Bird < jturn17
It's all good. From what I've read you are typically solid. We'll agree to disagree on this one

And to the Greg Oden vs Bynum debate.. Bynum is by far the better player

I agree Bynum is probably done being an above average player but he at least played at an all star level for a year or 2. Oden has never had a good season and has bad knee problems just like Bynum.
I agree Oden will get better and Bynum get worst but its understandable to say Bynum is\was the better player win healthy

quote:This actually isn't true. When Oden has been healthy he's been pretty freaking good.
Oden has never had a good season
His career per 36m are around 15pts 12 rbs and 2 blks.
The battle for him has always been health not skill level.
As far as Turner goes, I get why Bird did it, but it's a move for the future. It's fully a Stephenson insurance policy. They're afraid someone is going to max him out, which will prevent them from being able to max. This way they'll be able to have Turner's bird rights to not get much worse.
The problem is while Turner may be a better player than Granger that doesn't mean he'll fit the Pacers system as well as Granger did this year, even if Granger hasn't been good. Granger accepted a lesser role because he loved the team. There's no proof that Turner will do that. Plus he's in a contract year. I can easily see him chucking up shots when he's in the game because he needs to keep his numbers up so he can get $$$$ in the off season. The main reason I can see it not mattering is because the Pacers offense is already so shite that Turner isn't bad enough to make them any worse than they already are. Anyway, that's my stance on the whole thing. I see why the Pacers did it, but I don't think it was a move for this season. I think it was insurance for the future.
