If the dog isn't neutered, get it done. The scent of a bitch in heat will cause an un-neutered dog to leap tall buildings in a single bound. His urge to roam will disappear with his balls.

I had a foster who did that. I caught her in the act and put the fear of God in her. She never tried it again, but she got adopted before I could really see if it worked.
I would try some of the electric fence type ideas and not leave the dog unattended for a while. It may just find creative says to escape

I have a lab bitch that could if he wanted do the same thing. She squats and jumps vertically higher than her kennel. Thankfully she has not got the urge to go over.
There is an anti jumping leashe type deal that prevents the full extension of a dogs hind legs. It attaches to the collar, runs under the belly, and attaches to both hind legs. That would work but doesn't change the behavior.

I had a similar problem with a dog we brought home from the shelter. My neighbor watched her go over our 6' vinyl fence and bust her arse in his hedges. The best solution for us was a wireless fence system made by Petsafe and purchased at Petsmart. The collar is rechargeable and holds a charge for about 2-3 weeks (there is a cheaper version that requires batteries). The main unit can be placed inside of the house and it sets a wireless perimeter around your house (up to 300' I believe) that you adjust to your own preference. It also allows an additional collar on the same system which works great for our small dog that can jump the fence but loved to try to dart out the front door when company arrived. A second collar is a separate purchase. LINK

a friends lab does this when you throw her dummy over the fence. Its pretty cool considering my fat arse dog struggles to hop on the couch.

Wise you would love this dog reminds me of you. When he got out on Sunday he went to Rouse's, tried to get into Popeyes, then the lady that was following finally caught him as he tried to get into Chuck E Cheese.

I already did that with her once, realized it was cheaper to marry her again.

Walk your dog for 45 minutes...then play with him for 30 minutes. Thats standard

I would have ran to Hong Kong market although that might not be the smartest thing a dog could do.

Dogs that want out are tough to deal with - they will keep trying. If they can't jump, they'll dig.

IRL - Get a cop to shoot him.

This will work, especially if you run another wire close to the top of the fence. If it will keep a ridgeback in, I'm convinced it will keep damn near anything in. Use a 5 mile box for the wire. It will light the shite out of anything that touches it.
