What I think would be interesting is if he got a bonus for going to the Pro Bowl. Then the Saints will say dang....sure were happy to get that bonus.....AS A TE!

When he was being named to the All-Pro and Pro Bowl teams the last few years as a TE, why didn't Graham or his agent speak up then?

Well Graham was like 15th in the league in receiving so his stats don't indicate he deserves top 5 WR money.

Franchise his arse, then trade him in a year to Buffalo.

Draft an able TE that Brees will make look like an all star.

Watch Graham suffer in obscurity and Tony Gonzales references.

The Saints can't afford the highest paid TE in the league. Make the best of it. Sorry Jimmy, should have been a QB.
I seem to remember the Saints winning a SB with a used up Shockey and Darnell Dinkins as the TE.

he is a WR...everyone on this board seems to think he's the best WR in the league so pay him

Anyone else remember that Graham > Megatron and the Is Graham the best receiver in the NFL threads? It was something along those lines.

LMAO!

Considering he lines up at WR more than TE, it's fair IMO.

he isn't even top 14 in receiving yards. why is it fair he gets paid top wr money just because he's a mismatch for TDs?

gronk had a far superior season and never once moaned about being the highest paid tight end. i'm disappointed in jimmy.

so if you want to play the "fair game" then the saints should automatically make him line up at tight end for more snaps just to be "technical?"

darren sproles and reggie bush can lead the saints in receptions, but they are running backs to me..

Well that is just stupid....

I guess
Harvin
Wallace
Bowe
Marshall
Fitzgerald
Vincent Jackson

should all give their top 10 money back because they didn't finish in the top 10 for receiving yards.

Graham led the league in receiving touchdowns, therefore he deserves to be the highest paid receiver. You see how that logic is stupid? Probably not because it doesn't pertain to what you are trying to accomplish, but that is beside the point.

Does he want to be paid as the BEST tight end in the league or the fifteenth to twentieth best wide receiver in the league?

Jimmy needs to remember that he used to play basketball for Miami.

What does basketball in college have to do with this?

I guess you've weren't aware that Jimmy Graham played basketball in college every time someone mentions Jimmy Graham. He's such a dynamic player for a guy that played basketball in college.

Plenty of receivers to take his place. Let him walk if he doesn't like the millions of dollars they offer him.

Brees contract already crippled us. A huge contract for a luxury would be death.

I wonder if jimmy will decline pro bowl bids as a TE.

What % of TEs are starting to line up in the slot or at WR more often? A couple guys at NE, Graham, Tony Gonzales, TE at Cleveland, etc.

The position is changing. I'd be interested in seeing how TE salaries have changed in the last 5 years. I'd imagine that they've already been increasing as the passing game has begun to rely on them so much more.

Not everyone who gets franchise tagged 'deserves' top 5 money based on stats.

And if he were playing in an offense run by Brian Schottenheimer or Jason Garrett he'd line up at TE more. Him being used in different formations is a product of his coach. Wont fly, and if it does I hope the Saints let him walk.

Brees restructures and we ax more dead weight like Lance Moore and either restructure or ax Sproles and/or Pierre Thomas and this isn't an issue.
