Saw something where Washington was told AND SHOWED by Cam that they call a lot of passes for the TE as the primary option. Mett obviously was focused on Beckham and Landry, while although very successful, could have been even better if spread to the TE options.

This is very true. The TE's were open a good bit of times. Mett hardly ever looked their way. He was way too focused on Landry/Beckham at times, which makes sense since they built up a lot of chemistry together during their three years at LSU. Though this did cost us the Ole Miss game, he had someone open underneath on all of his picks that day

These younger QB's will have plenty of time to build chemistry with the TE's.

Per OrangeBloods by way of ShaggyBevo, Texas's Joe Wickline offered Shipley as an OL last week:

LINK

quote:

Texas offered Marble Falls prospect Hanner Shipley as an offensive lineman late last week. While the 6-foot-3, 270-pounder was honored to get that offer, it doesn’t sound like he’ll follow in the footsteps of his cousins – Jordan and Jaxon Shipley – by heading to the Forty Acres. “Coach [Joe] Wickline offered me last week,” said Shipley. “Honestly it doesn’t really matter though because I won’t go there. I won’t even visit. I’ve been there a thousand times since I’ve been eight years old.” “I want to play big time ball in the SEC,” he added. “I want to help LSU win the national championship.”

Another poster later claims to have seen a quote from him on 247 saying he'll play wherever LSU asks:

I'd love to see Hanner become a stud at OT, dont get me wrong.

But we also have had success with DGordon as that athletic blocking TE, who could have been an OT, althlugh he has had successes as that "extra tackle" who is athletic enough to a threat in the passing game. IMO I would have loved to see him try some tackle in camp

But also remember Matt Branch was a stud coming out of HS at Sterlington, big body, 6'7" 240/250 as a high schooler. They tried to turn him into an OLineman but could never hold his weight consistently over 300 lbs. He was probably best suited in the Dillon Gordon role. Yes, unfortunately he had multiple injuries also plagued Branch's career. Matt played in the two deep as a guard and was effective, but this just shows everyone should be taken as a case by case situation
Matt could have been a stud at TE if used properly. He took one for the team and went where the coaches wanted him despite his desire

I think we have a pretty good shot with Richy Pettibon from Washington DC. He has LSU connections
If by "LSU connections," you mean that his grandfather is a Legend at a school that hates LSU with a passion, then yeah, he has LSU connections.

From what I've read recently, although Petitbon likes LSU, he likes Bama more. Not counting on him.

As for Shipley, I think they have him as a blocking tight end at first but will hold out the option of moving him to OT if he adds more weight. Miles and Cameron seem to like a big blocking TE in their system. The fact that Gordon hasn't moved to tackle seems to signal that maybe, Shipley could stay at TE. Personally, I'd like to see him at OT.

He already knows (has been told) since he is young and growing he will probably be an OL. He is okay with that.

Pettibone has family that graduated from LSU.

As for Shipley, he is now listed as an OL commitment on the LSU rivals site.

Doesn't really mean much. Coaches and him decided which position he will play. Rivals writers are just making a prediction.
