well, a couple of questions come into play...
how much money would you save in gas annually?
what do you like to do in your spare time...i.e. do you needd a truck or would you miss your truck if you get rid of it?....
Well I project I will spend close to $3,800 a year on gas with my commute. Depending on the car I choose, will determine the amount of savings. I would absolutely miss my truck, but I don't need it.

Sell truck and buy a small compact/effecient car, save the money...add a little to it with the savings each month.
When you get ready to buy a truck, or another efficient vehicle, you will have the cash....keep that "vehicle fund" rolling your entire life, and you will never have a note - never have to sweat paying for repairs - never be in a situation where the vehicle has you concerned about whether you should own it or not.
do the same with your residence. you will live a very happy, content life....

when gas was bumping on $4 per gallon, a few of my friends with long commutes actually bought small cars in addition to their trucks...believe it or not, the cars paid for themselves in fuel savings...they actually ended up better off having two vehicles than they were with a single truck...
fwiw, my philosophy is that if you own a house, you need a truck unless you pay someone to do pretty much everything outside (i.e. mowing the lawn, etc.)....
