Alright let's see. HC class of '88, I hung out with Poche, Goetz, Batt, if you walked into Rocky and Carlos and yelled my last name, half the people would look up, lol. My grandpa owned that old Exxon station on St. Bernard Hwy. My older brother was HC '84 and my sister was Dominican 86.
The old Gulf station right by Chalmette Ave?

Just read Diaz's obituary. Man, that's got me tore up. I haven't seen him since high school, but that was one good dude. Man, that shite hits home I tell ya.

I guess I could have done that. I barely get on this site though.
I was totally floored when I heard about him.
You went to CHS with us?

Yep. Not the Gulf station, but it was closer to Arabi. It later turned into St. Bernard auto I think. Guy name Quam ran it. I pretty much grew up in that place.

Yes. I was good friends with Mike. We graduated in the same year. He died of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Just read up on him. He fought it for a while. Damn!

You graduated in '87 then. I was '88.
Small world.

Early to mid-90's it was the Nickel Pickle in Village Square or the Circle K by the hospital on Genie.
a guy who graduated a year or so before me worked at that time saver by the hospital. He was our underage hook up. That or anyone who worked at Winn-Dixie.

Just jumping back in to say this thread is freaking awesome.
My 1/2 brother is a Gioe. They owned that old Gulf station. He's a cop down there and going to Rocky's with him is like being in a damn mafia movie. He's a big ole' greasy Italian and they all know him. He doesn't even stand in line to order. He just sits down and they come and wait on him. It's ridiculous.

Dew, I can still remember Carboni sitting in the dugout, "Cuh Dew, Cuh Dew, wee-ewwww (whistle)" everytime you were at the plate!

I love that man. Watching him hit fungos to the outfield was a thing of beauty. Dude could put it down the line or move the outfielders around with surgeon-like precision. It was crazy.

Do they still have the candy business?

When we would go there as kids, Rocky would always start talking Italian to my dad. Barqs in a bottle and veal parm on baked Mac
