The problem with the logic is that you are now rewarding more points for advancing the football a shorter distance. The objective is to cross a goal line, for which you are rewarded 6 points. If you come close but cannot make it the full distance, you have the chance to get half of that.
That's how I feel.

Yea if u down by 3 at the end what if u pass up the 33 mistake. what u gonna run backward and kneel then call timeout. That would make the game annoying.

sounds like just chat about FGs

There could be change coming to XPs tho. HERE

basically-
7 pts for a TD
option to go for 2
variations might include-
a failed 2pter would make the TD 6 pts
move the 2pt try from 2yds to 1 yd

I like all those myself. It has turned into an eternity after a TD. There's time for confirmation, commercial, XP kicked, commercial, KO with the high rate of touchbacks now, commercial

high rate of touchbacks

This gets me more than anything. Some of the most exciting plays in football are from a KO return. Special teams is being phased out and is hurting the excitement of the game. Make touchbacks bring the ball to the 30. If you're too chicken shite to allow a return, it should hurt you more than the other team getting the ball at the 20.

This rule should not apply to Denver bc frick that kicker for Dempseys record in a cheap arse low altitude environment

you realize the cold weather more than made up for the advantage of the altitude.

Actually, colder weather is less dense than warmer climates. Dempsey was kicking in warm weather in an area 4-5 feet below sea level. If Dempsey would have tried the same kick up in Denver, it would have probably been good from 70 plus yards out!

We shouldn't be rewarding a team for not having enough offense to get closer to the endzone. What happens when a team purposely loses yards just to get to a 50yd FG. That is absurd

So when you're down 3 on the 20 with :15 to go and facing 3d and 10, you retreat, kneel it, and try to kick the game winning FG?

You are misinformed.

Warm air is going to be less dense than cold air

They had several breakdowns of it this year after the record breaking kick

Now humidity is another factor all together

But, I agree. Having a 20 yard FG count the same as a 60 yard FG doesn't make a lot of sense. Any FG inside the 10 should be 2 points if we are going to do this.

God what a stupid arse post.

So when a team drives the ball to the 2 yard line then kicks a FG should only get 2 points, but when their drive stalls on the 33 they get 4 points?

What an awesome way to penalize good offense.

I don't think people should focus on FGs being worth only two after a certain point. You're right, teams shouldn't be penalized for making it further down the field.

I think it needs to focus on if you make say a 60+ yard FG, you can then maybe award 4 points.

So a 59 yarder is only 3 points but a 60 yarder is 4?

Again that's penalizing teams for good drive. The better your drive, the easier your FG attempt (if you don't score a TD). It's a pretty easy concept. A 60 yard TD isn't worth more than a 1 yard TD

Leave the game alone! Stop changing it or suggesting stupid scoring systems. It is fine the way it is.

But a team down by 4 on the 20 with 10 seconds left would run backwards and lose yardage intentionally to tie the game...

This.

Plus, if you have the ball on the 40, can you snap the ball 10 yards to get the extra point? Too many loopholes.

I think people are taking the whole "penalizing a team for driving far." Well, no not really, the further you drive, the better your chance is to get a TD. If you stall out, you drove all the way down and the FG is more makeable then it would have been. I don't think it's "penalizing" when getting the points is easier.
I think it just seems that way now bc you've always gotten three points.

Again, to me this is a complicated issue and finding a solution a lot of people will agree on is going to be near impossible. But I do think that this can be looked into in some way.
