while it is in a horrible area, I have never heard of anybody having any trouble at Tony's, have you?

Its in the ghetto so any time you're there you have to deal with ghetto arse people.

I've been going there all my life and my adult life at least three or four times a month and not one time have I ever seen any conflict or cross word amongst anyone. I stand in line next to doctors, lawyers engineers I know as well as plant workers, day laborers and ditch diggers. Only thing ever discussed has been the products they sell.

Y'all make way to much out of this "ghetto arse people" thing. I think everyone is just scared because they don't know how to handle themselves when they get out of vanillaville.

Great news, but Perkins Overpass is in desperate need of a urban design overhaul. BR is a car community and Perkins Overpass is a destination. Most people are reluctant to park and walk a couple blocks. Riverside Towing is going to make a killing.

Well lemme tell you, I almost got arrested at Tony's once several years ago. I went there during my lunch break to pick up some boudin balls. As I'm backing out to leave, I hear this awful screech. I immediately get out of my car to found I've run over this beautiful fancy-looking cat. I was really bummed and as I walking back to my car, some ghetto-arse fat lady comes screaming at me, telling that it was her cat, and that it was a $1000 cat, and that I owed her the money for the fricking cat. Well, I told her she was crazy, but she was relentless. I finally reach for what I had in my wallet and said, "look lady, I will give you 50 dollars for this damn cat." Well, next thing you know it, this cop comes over and tries to arrest me. Said I was negotiating the price of pussy of Plank.

While I don't frequent Tony's as much as you, this has been my experience as well.

The new location would be a lot closer to me, however, which is quite exciting.

Seems like you could always park on those side streets.

But yea, I agree the area could use an overhaul, with some beatification.

well fifty bucks is about forty seven fifty high for that negotiation anyway. Pussy is cheap on Plank. About three pounds of crawfish would be a good transaction. And I mean after Easter Sunday crawfish.

Martini, you're an old time baton rouge guy. Do you know anyone who still lives in that neighborhood across plank from Tony's? The one with Redemptorist High? That neighborhood always intrigued me. I feel like it's a little diamond in the rough and I'm curious who lives there.

North BR always interested me. About 10 years ago when I was a teen and just started driving, sometimes I would make the trek to tony's just to see this side of BR I never knew existed. It felt so urban and different than the rest of the city.

I know an older white couple that live just behind the school and I have several young, black employees that live back in there and are raising nice young families. I know several white families on Lemonwood as well as good families off Winbourne and many in old Melrose. All are good people trying to make a living and raise families. And none talk jive.
