It all depends on the dynamic of the small group itself. I am part of a small group that meets during the week that is part of a larger church. (We are not a "mega church") Groups can be a little overwhelming for someone who has not been in church for a while and who is not versed in the Word. But I would welcome anyone in the group and meet them where they are in their lives even if they are opposed to some things that I believe in. I feel that's what small groups are all about....having intimate discussions about what God is doing in our lives and supporting everyone in the group.

This was not my experience at all. We actually physically put an empty chair at the table every time that we met to remind each other to invite someone. There was never any stipulation that this person needed a certain knowledge base. In fact, it was quite the opposite. We wanted to invite someone non-churched so that they could come to know the joy we had.
