Abortion Question For Those In Favor...

It is indisputable that abortion is legal in the US. This is not a thread discussing legality in total.
If you support abortion rights, are there any limits as to when an abortion should not performed based on age of the fetus? If you believe there should be limitations (i.e., nothing after first trimester), what is your justification for that opinion?
Thanks

I don't know, but I just need to watch the local news to reaffirm my position that we need more

I am 100% in favor of a woman's right to choose, as we have heard ad nauseum. When the cut off is for stopping abortions (20 weeks etc) I am not sure. You asked for an honest answer.

Some kids should be aborted well into adulthood.

And I appreciate the response because it is tough to answer. Viability from a medical perspective is generally around 24 weeks now.

I agree. I think this board is proof of that.

So, if a woman is 38 weeks pregnant, you are okay with aborting the baby, correct? Just wondering, not flaming.

Viability.

Why is viability so determinative in deciding whether or not a human being is under the protection of the law?
I mean an otherwise healthy person who suffers multiple gunshot wounds, and is on heavy life support - no one suggests that anyone would be justified in cutting off his life support "just because" he can't live without it (that's sort of the point) OR argue that coming in and cutting off his life support (and/or cutting him into little pieces and throwing him out with the garbage) would not constitute an act of homicide - manslaughter at a minimum, and quite possible murder - depending on the specific facts and intentions of such a person.
Those of you who "100%" support the right to choose - is this your position right up to delivery i.e. 40 weeks minus a few hours?

At any point if a woman wants to kill her unborn child before delivery, the argument is, it's her body.
Whether at 6 weeks or 36 weeks, it's exactly the same thing.
It's her body, her unborn child. If she wants to kill it, she should be able to. Just make the choice an honest one.
Right now, that choice isn't honest. A is A people, always remember, A is A.

I understand the argument.
What is magical about breathing room air that suddenly imparts the protection of the law - that this person did not have mere moments before?
(I'm not saying you're making the argument - I'm just trying to understand what argument the "abortion on demand right up until delivery" people are making...)

If a woman wants to have an abortion she should be forced to adopt a puppy.

I can understand a woman not knowing she is pregnant for the first month, maybe I can understand well into the second month. But by the time the breast fairy shows up around 8wks she probably has figured out she is pregnant. My question is, why would/should it take her another 3 months to decide to have the abortion?
I just think a woman would/should know whether or not she was going to have an abortion well before 20 weeks, unless of course a health issue of the mother or baby becomes apparent past that point.

viability is an arbitrary, political compromise for an issue that cannot be honestly compromised by either side.

As someone who doesn't really have strong feelings in either direction, it's an easy stance to take.

I think a baby achieves self awareness at about 18 months. Until then it is just tissue. A mother should have 18 months after birth to decide if she wants to keep the baby.

I like the puppy idea. and it's an unborn ftus, not a baby till its born but you all knew this. This is one argument that will never be settled among people.

This is one of the primary reasons why Roe v. Wade is such bullsh!t. Logically, it makes zero sense. Constitutionally, it's a complete freakin joke. It really is the worst example of result-oriented/politicized opinion writing ever to come out of the Court. And, it gave biased politicized judges carte blanche to just make up their own "Constitutional rights" to achieve their political objectives and ideology.
