The main thing I took away from this episode was Alexandra Daddario's smoking hot body.

I never said that. Just the reaction is comical. It isn't Porky's we are watching.
I don't like them, in fact I love them.

man the chick was only listed in 3 of the 8 episodes on imdb

Art can be erotic.
Oh, and do you think the "cake" was her cooter or her bunghole? I think it was her bunghole, and she's into him bc he's an old dirty bastard.

That doesn't necessarily mean she's only in 3 episodes. She's a recurring character, not part of the main cast, so not listed as being in all 8 episodes. But that's only because IMDB doesn't know how many episodes she's in. She could be in all 8. But since she's only a recurring character, no one really knows. They list her as being in 3 episodes because the promo for next weekend clearly shows her to be in the episode.

Another HBO reuse is the young guy asking old MM questions. Eggs from true blood.
The other detective is Brother Mouzone from The Wire.

I get the feeling she is a deeper person than Marty and that's what will bring her and Rust together, maybe not physically but emotionally. Tortured souls leaning on each other. It would not bother me if her and Rust hooking up was the reason for the fallout between him and Marty.
That's what I'm thinking. The preview gives the impression that they may start slapping skins, but they may just have an emotional connection.
The character development is awesome. And it looks like some crazies are going to come out and some weird shite will go down. Who the hell is the dude in the grippies? I like the way the show is going. Wish I could marathon the whole season right now.
As for the tits, hell even my wife was mesmerized by them.

I'm not too sure that Rust and the wife actually bang but I think they could develop a friendship of sorts that causes a rift between Marty and her (which already exists). Maybe they end up getting a divorce and Marty blames Rust.
I tend to agree that them having sex is too obvious and in the realm of lazy writing.

The owl in the church was cool. In the "Making of True Detective" on HBOGo they said had to keep owls and other birds of prey on set to keep the mockingbirds away

Alex Daddario is built like a goddess, and she can act in a cable show that has much artistic merit. She answered questions live on an HBO board during the episode.Wonder what most people asked about heh. Damn Good Show.

Incredible episode. I can't wait to see what happens to cause the rift between the 2 detectives.I agree on the theory that Rust befriends Maggie and that it will have something to do with the rift.
Cinematography is great in this one, makes the town seem like a character as well. Can't wait for next week.
Top 5 rack of all time?

Beautiful episodes.
I'm starting to love the '12 timeline with Rust even more. I felt sympathy for the guy when he was talking about his daughter dying.

I think Marty is the killer. No reasoning. Just a feeling I've got

If any of the main characters are the killer, I will kill kittens.
Luckily I don't think the writers would so such a thing.
