Generally, if your boat is on plane, the bow is out of the water and you aren't pushing much wake to begin with. Unless you are in a huge heavy arse boat, then WTF are you doing running through 18" of water in the first place? I was more referring to the guy throwing a 30' rooster tail to look cool than the A to B guy. Besides that, traveling at a high rate of speed in a narrow cut is a good way to get dead and I don't want to see that or be involved in it.

Not sure where you fish, but its very common in the marsh. Many high traffic cuts are 18". Not saying that someone doesn't occasionally get dead though.
