He's earning that money. Their actual attendance at games has tripled, they've probably raised more in the last 3 than they did in the prior 15.

Easily thanks to RCAF. The prior administration would never allow an athletics foundation

As far as the Nola bowl comment goes, unfortunately that's kinda what is available. Sun belt doesn't have big bowl tie ins so unless he makes a BCS at large we pretty much go to Nola. Not that it really matters because the SBC is kinda crumbling. I expect the Cajuns to move to a new conference relatively soon. Everyone else is jumping ship from the SBC anyway.

That's partially it but you could still donate to athletics without one. A winning football team coupled with a coach who can sell, does wonders for donations.

No word yet. But Hud was making 750 this year. Hopefully he can get bumped up over a million.

Does your athletic department cover that?

Or is this my tax money at work?

The bump in pay is due to the RCAF. Yes, your tax dollars pay a portion of the coach's salary, as is the case with every single public university in the state not named LSU.

I'm pretty sure a portion of Les Miles' salary is paid by the school since he is an employee of the university

Holy shite I would have guessed half that....if his raise gets him to 7 figures he'd be almost crazy to leave ULL. It is an absolute no pressure, low expectation environment.

Although, I suppose the same could be said for Vandy and I suppose if Vandy doubles his pay then that would be smart.

It must have really sucked back then casue it ain't that great now. I was in NOLA for the first NOLA Bowl for ULL and my first thought was why don't all these people come to the home games. I heard on the radio this morning in Laffy they are still wondering that.

Everyone goes to NOLA because it is an event, and an excuse to drink in New Orleans. I know tons of people who go tailgate and don't go into the game.

Frankly, I'm more surprised that we can get that many people to come watch us play teams like Troy, NMSU, WKU, and other smaller schools in the first place.

The casual Cajun fan is also a fan of big time southern college football, and they don't know any of those schools.

I'm not saying we deserve/can/will get into a better conference, but getting some better named opponents would help make regular season games events that casuals wouldn't want to miss.

He's done a great job at ULL

He'll get an offer from a bigger school next season IMO. Definitely has the chance to be a big time coach in CFB

He has become a front runner for the Vandy job according to the Coaching Search Ticker. Sure he is using that for the extension in case Vandy picks someone else. But sorry ULL peeps if Vandy offers he is gone. Franklin getting over 3 million there so even as a new coach they will pay the HUD over 1.5

And knowing the way Martin Hall has always run things at ULL, our Administration will probably act all surprised with "woe is me" rather that what they should have been doing since NOLA Bowl...making plans and keeping a short list of candidates.
