Saban had a solid foundation left for him by DiNardo.

Hate to admit it, but this is true. I dont think Saban was the best at LSU with all the horrific losses, but the big difference is Saban improved as the years went on (not counting the year he bounced to Miami with his short-timer mentality. Les seems to accept 10 win seasons, which isnt bad as well, but take out the powder puff games and we are mediocre. Yes, I thank him for the 13-0 season to go to the ship, but we all know what happened next. Just my .02

Disagree. Dinardo built the foundation by making it okay to come to LSU. He just could not get out of his own way. When Mighty Mouse left, our OLine recruiting was in shambles.
People keep defending Saban by degrading the job that was done by Dinardo. I think the ONLY thing holding LSU back from being THE powerhouse college football program is the reluctance of establishing a more "appealing" offensive system to high school players. Also, the perception of some folk in Louisiana that they are much smarter than the guy with tons of experience and an economics degree running a multimillion dollar enterprise.

You're simply a critic and therefor don't count.

I can't believe we are still to this day have the Saban vs. Miles discussion.
Anyone who has ever tried to build any kind of successful program (not just athletic) knows how hard a job it is. But what some people don't realize it that MAINTAINING a scuccessful program is dificult too. You have to fight the battle of complaincy when members of your program start to take some things from granted.
Miles has not been perfect at LSU, but guess what -- NEITHER WAS SABAN. I definitely feel that SABAN had more loses against teams that LSU should have definitely beaten. And yes, Miles biggest loss was that BAMA NC loss, but at leaset that wasn't a loss like the Saban loss to UAB.

GD started the rebuilding before Nick set foot on campus. The LSU powers to be added to the rebuilding by hiring Nick. Les improved on and continued what both GN and NS did at LSU.
I both respect and enjoy what Nick helped rebuild here, but he has not been here since 04 and its more than time for some "LSU fans" to get over NS and enjoy the never before seen at LSU success provided by Les Miles. imo

This is the team LES Miles inherited: 2004 – LSU finished the season 9–3, after losing to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Capital One Bowl 30–25 on a final play touchdown pass. Other losses that season were on the road at Auburn 10–9, and a loss on the road to Georgia 45–16.
This is the reality of what Les Miles inherited: An LSU home game and Les Miles' first as head coach at LSU was moved to Arizona State's Sun Devil Stadium due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina....followed by an 11 game schedule without a bye week (Sep 10 thru Dec 3)
