I have an anniversy dinner date coming up in a couple weeks.

I see that Beausoleil gets a lot of love on this board. I am tempted but not sure. I looked over the menu online. Price isn't a problem but I am wondering how would someone who normally eats more simple types of food like such a place.

Other possibilities are Ruth Chris and Flemings which I consider a bit more of "safe" options.

it's my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge . if that means anything.

what specific dishes do you think she would absolutely abhor right off the bat without even trying them?

For an anniversary dinner, do something special and out-of-the-ordinary.

Roberto's on River Rd in Sunshine is an option, especially if she likes "simple" food.

Ruffinos and Juban's for a local flare.
Both are solid, as is Mansurs.
Obv Flemings and Ruth's are top notch.

Went to Maison Lacour 2-3 months ago from advice from the board.
Wasn't impressed.
Not a huge fan of Roberto's either.

I'm interested in beausoleil. Prob go there soon.

Have you been to Houmas House. The plantation grounds are incredible for such an occasion. The dining rooms are small and intimate...

Beau Soleil or LA Lagnaippe would be my choices.

Surprise her, and take the short trip to Hammond to Jacmel Inn, thank me later.

There's a pork chop and a chicken breast on the menu. If the pesto butter on the chicken is giving you pause, then a straight up steakhouse might be your best bet.

Digiulio Bros. for my 1st anniversary. It has nostalgia to the relationship of my wife and I but I would go there for an anniversary even if it hadn't any meening.

Stroubes is great

Went there for ours and it was fantastic. Service was top notch and the food was beyond excellent.

Appetizers:
Lamb lollipops - holy shite I could have just ordered 4 of these and been great.
Pork belly - was very tasty

I got the the tuna with a side of crawfish risotto. I think it may have been the best piece of fish I've ever had and the risotto was da bomb.

Houma's House if you don't mind going on the outskirts of Baton Rouge.

when you say simple foods, can you be more specific. what kind of thing do you think you and the wife would want to order... a steak and vegetable? if so, go with ruth chris or flemings.

I guess I am asking what your definition of "safe" is.

I went on a date with a guy and we went to beausoleil and we just got appetizers and it was splendid.
