Schwab charges $8.95 a trade regardless of size, are always accessible and able to answer any question (they patched me through to an estate expert the other day at no cost), have a highly functionable website, and make it very easy to transfer funds to/from your bank account. Hard to beat.

Schwab actually has a large selection of ETFs they don't charge transaction fees on, not just their own.

I'm as happy with Schwab as I am with my local bank and my local bank is pretty good too.
