I agree as well, but with the media, the delusional fans, and espn all saying we were going to get a big name coach, there was no way that anyone was going to see Strong as a great hire, which I think he is in terms of coaching acumen. He's not going to coddle players and he's not gonna kiss the arse of the good ole boy network, which is exactly why he was the perfect candidate to replace ole buttertooth

Actually I think Strong is a really good coach. He was one of the if not the best hire this year.

I am very interested to see how he does in a big job, and see how he manages Brown's legacy that the Texas coach is the defacto mayor of Austin.

no. i believe that saban would demand absolute control like he has at bama. hell, saban could get the school president fired if he wanted to (ala bobbiy knight back in the day). tejas is not going to give the HC that much control and i admire them for that.

I want to see Sumlin without JFF and Mike Evans and Charlie Strong with a couple of recruiting classes.

Let's see how they compare in 3 years.

They may have reason to. My opinion...he is a 3 year and gone hire. Good coach but NOT the homerun they wanted. 10-2 and 9-3 is ok at Louisville but Texas demands more. Just a bleep on the radar screen before they throw more money at Saban than Jimmy Sexton can let him turn down.

Does Bama not have recruits to replace it's losses? Because aTm's recruiting classes have been impressive also

I think Briles would of been the perfect fit for them, he would have arse raped the Big 12 with a barbwire dick at Texas.

Briles has his little kingdom on the Brazos. Baylor, unfortunately for the rest of us, has a lot of political clout. I bet UT admins were influenced not to pursue through some channel or another.

As for Charlie Strong, we care less now what a&m thinks than we did before. We'll see if its a good hire soon enough.
